The only type of modding that we can "perform" is usermap modding. And unfortunately, the bitmaps and shaders don't reside in the usermap.
They reside in the .map file.
The .map file is protected by a key stored on Microsoft servers, so there, as of yet, has been no way for anyone to mod a .map file.
Of course, this excludes Dev Kit owners, Veegie, and Detox, for example. The state of their Xbox 360 allows them to run unsigned code, and therefore edit a .map file to their liking.

We, the basic community, on the other hand, are limited to usermap modding, which as said, doesn't allow us to skin anything.

I believe that what I've said is accurate. Can anyone confirm?

my post by saying thanks veegie for that, and also to clarify script can not be edited until we can resign the large Live rsa encryption because scripts would edit and change base map structure, right?

yea sorry using (begin screwed the post up, i was asking the question which was already clarified, and then thanking veegie for the script of the defenders.

and wow just had a great idea and now if i can figure out a way to make a certain gametype mod possible, well...yay!

Hey guys, answer a stupid question from me. please.
In a "Usermap" is there some ID that links it to it's original map?

Yes - Would you be able to change it? like Scenarios\multi\Shrine\Shrine to
Scenarios\solo\030_outskirts\030_outskirts.

No - sorry for asking.

The idea was, would it be possible for 16 player campaign. :lol:

You would be referencing Identifiers which are not found in the map file. The only way for this to work would be with some very heavy .map file modding.

You could change the map id to that of a campaign map but it wouldn't load.
