The readers club needs to be fixed.
Re: Staff Are Not Doing Thier Job
That's not a discussion for this thread.
I just realized that was a shot at Jackson. He is not in the Reader's Club. The emblem system needs to be fixed and his emblem removed. He is not in the RC, he is not banned, he just has the emblem because the switch completely, in every way, broke emblems.

Re: Staff Are Not Doing Thier Job
No offense.. I fully agree.. Ever since the active staff left I noticed so many things we would normally delete are being let go, and alot of work isn't being done.
Whatever the sites almost dead anyways..

Re: Staff Are Not Doing Thier Job
For your information, this isn't my full-time job. I try to moderate as best I can when I have time, and I'm sure the other moderators would say the same. Not to mention there are few other staff members.JacksonCougAr wrote:Then you suck at your job.RaVNzCRoFT wrote:We do.

K, last time I checked, you are supposed to promote user activity, not tell people to leave because you have a life. So if you don't have enough time to be a moderator, maybe you should'nt be one.RaVNzCRoFT wrote:leave.

No, he isn't. I've had to explain this a hundred times. The emblems are broken. He is not in the RC, he is not banned. The emblem has not been removed properly because the emblem system is completely broken.RaVNzCRoFT wrote:As it is, you're in the Reader's Club...
Re: Staff Are Not Doing Thier Job
Unless there's going to be some constructive suggestions in here, this thread is pointless. Saying stuff like "you suck" isn't going to improve anything. Bring real issues, with real solutions to the table, and maybe we'll implement them or listen. Simply starting a thread with an attitude isn't going to help.
If you have an issue with a particular staff member, say it. Don't generalize the staff as a whole, as I know there are some that view and close reports, and some that don't log in for weeks. I'm going to be looking into this over the next week or so.

Re: Staff Are Not Doing Thier Job
I created this thread after seeing a report go without moderation for 24 hours. Perhaps you should improve on your report alerting system or something because it seems like when a report is made it takes an age for anything to get done about it.
Go ahead and lock this thread since it served its purpose 5 posts ago.

Re: Staff Are Not Doing Thier Job
He chose to join this forum. If he has such a problem with the way things are done here, it's his responsibility to leave. He could have made a constructive post, perhaps suggesting that some new moderators are promoted, and I would have completely respected that. But if he's going to be hostile about it, I'm not putting up with it. This thread is a rant.grimdoomer wrote:K, last time I checked, you are supposed to promote user activity, not tell people to leave because you have a life. Edit:
JacksonCougAr, you should have said exactly that in your original post.JacksonCougAr wrote:I created this thread after seeing a report go without moderation for 24 hours. Re: Staff Are Not Doing Thier Job
A responsibility, really? If he doesn't like the staff, he has to leave the community (Which is a lot more than the staff...).RaVNzCRoFT wrote:He chose to join this forum. If he has such a problem with the way things are done here, it's his responsibility to leave.
His attitude means he can't make the suggestion anymore? I don't see how that takes away the possibility. The possibility is still very much there. What's stopping him from making another, polite post? Nothing. The possibility has not been taken away.RaVNzCRoFT wrote:He could have made a constructive post, but his attitude took away that possibility.
You're saying it's a rant now, but you're ranting right back at him by asserting that it is a responsibility to leave, and that he no longer is capable of making a constructive post. Yes, I'm aware the "responsibility" is a matter of interpretation, but it could easily be phrased better. (Such as "you have the ability to leave" or the like. "Responsibility" has a different connotation.)

Re: Staff Are Not Doing Thier Job
What I'm saying is he has the right to leave this forum if he doesn't like the way the staff operate. Bitching about the staff in a thread contributes to nothing. I'd have given him more respect if he had been polite and proposed a solution in his original post.Tural wrote:A responsibility, really? Geo/SourceGuy: I think some sort of report alert system would be great; I don't like not knowing if there are reports until I click the link.
@Tural: All right, I should have chosen a better way to word that.
Re: Staff Are Not Doing Thier Job
On a forum with the current level of activity, 24 hours for a report to get closed isn't that long. Heaven forbid it happens again!JacksonCougAr wrote:I created this thread after seeing a report go without moderation for 24 hours.
It's easy to say "get better staff" but the fact of the matter is, activity alone is not sufficient grounds for someone to be staff. Unfortunately, generally speaking, it is the older community members that have better experience and judgement when it comes to moderating forums. I say unfortunately because this tends to mean said people have jobs, university, girlfriends or even wives and children.
This isn't to say there isn't an issue though, because there is. And within the next hour or so, I'm going to be demoting a significant number of staff members, and making some changes.
Jackson, in the future, bring your issue up with some kind of constructive idea too, it's more likely to get your thoughts heard. The attitude also wasn't really necessary.

Re: Staff Are Not Doing Thier Job
Message Received: It was in the beginning simply me lashing out over perceived staff inactivity such that staff would simply check their reports. Hopefully a new report alert system can be conceived out of this so that the response time of staff may improve in the future. Don't get me wrong: I do not think all staff here are not doing their jobs, just that if you are staff you should be able to at least check reports once a day when your are on the site, between x number of Staff currently enrolled in the group it would not be unreasonable to expect reports to be dealt with in a timely manor.
Re: Staff Are Not Doing Thier Job
Thanks, I will, and I will also ask SG to, look into a way of making reports be more 'visual'. The current system means we only see reports if we see the reported post, or go into the moderator control panel and view open reports. I'm not saying that's reason to not check them, I'm just saying we don't have something that jumps up as we log in, telling us there are issues. I think the staff aren't so much ignoring reports, but more-so forgetting to check for them. Which I will address with the staff.

Re: Staff Are Not Doing Thier Job
Thanks for adjusting your attitude, Jackson.
Although nine staff members are listed, don't forget that not nearly all are active.
Anthony: Around for the forum change, I suppose, but not an active moderator
BEEF!!!: Not an active moderator
Cuda: Pretty active
gtavcmaster100: Visits the forum pretty infrequently
Ketchup_Bomb: Visits fairly often, but is clearly preoccupied with other things
Phil: Has hardly visited since the forum change as far as I can tell
SHOUTrvb: Visits pretty often, I think
Snave: Visits pretty infrequently
I try to visit when I can.
That's not to say the inactive staff haven't done great things for HaloMods in the past, and the forum certainly isn't being flooded with new posts. But we only have a few staff who "report to duty" with some sort of regularity.
In addition, the old report system (the one we lost with the forum merge, I believe) was a boldfaced green link that appeared at the bottom of every page, so it was very noticeable. I'm sure something likely that would work perfectly fine now.
