Do you think there should be a "First mod" section?

I have a suggestion, I think that there should be a section for people that are new to modding where they can show off their first mods and maybe if possible make it mandatory that new comers post a mod in there before they can post their other mods in somewhere like the downloads section.
how would any of you guys feel about that?

A first mod has the same rights as a 50th mod to be posted in a downloads board.
A new modder deserves the same respect as an experienced one.
We are not going to be segregating newcomers by making such a thing.

I believe this has already been discussed. We already have the outstanding Mods forum, and having this might just discourage the newcomers.

Not to segregate, separate, or discriminate newer modders.....
I just think there would be some advantages in creating a section like this, for instance anyone that goes into that section would automatically know that a good amount of mods in there would be basic and knowing that would give a few people some perspective on what to think about certain mods and such; such as instead of just looking at a mod and saying "This mods sucks! go die!" I think having a section like this would put people more into the mindset of "hey, these guys are new." and would cause people to be more constructive and more assisting to the newer members. Plus in that section it would cause most of the repetitive annoying situations like "Hey, don't double post!" or "use the search button" to be a little more isolated and would reduce the other sections from cloggage of that sort. And plus I think more of newer guys would be more confident in posting their new mods in knowing that there's less potential of flamming and bad criticism, especially when its being presented in front of other fellow new comers. I mean I think it would be more beneficial to all of us if we figured out a way to treat most new comers differently. Not to mention I know alot of people like to help other modders and I think a section like that would be also a place thats concentrated with people that for the most part usually want alot of help.
Yeah, those are just a few things that I was thinking of that made me come up with this suggestion, but I'm pretty sure there could be ALOT more.

That's what it would be doing though, regardless of your intention. It's saying "These mods aren't fit to be posted with the other mods, so you're only allowed to post them here."

People with the latter mindset will post constructively regardless of whether or not there is a special board. That's really not a valid argument.

When that happens, you report it. You can't just isolate such behavior to one area and leave it, that doesn't solve anything. It doesn't matter what board it's in, it's still happening...

If they know that such things will happen, they are already prepared for it to happen. If there's flaming, it gets handled by staff.

There are boards for helping. And again, people who want to help will do so whether there is a specific board or not.

I'm sure there are. However, the notion of segregating newcomers and the cons of a board just for that outweigh most, if not all, pros you have come up with.

ok, even if it wasn't required to make a post there, it could just be the choice of each individual to post in there you would still feel the same way?

Yes.
You're still putting first mods in a far lesser status than later mods. On top of that, if it wasn't a requirement, there's no need for the board.

I've been to forums with a similar structure. And I gotta say it doesn't work out to well. All it does is single out the new comers, and all they're constantly pumping out new creations that don't look too good, in false a hope that they could post in the more experienced forums.
I'm getting what you're saying, and I don't exactly agree with much of it. It just wouldn't work. We shouldn't put new people out in the corner so we don't have to deal with looking at their mods. If we need to give them advice and help - as it has been stated before - we can do that just fine in the other areas of the forum.
I don't think implementing such rule would work very well.

Also if it was made, it wouldn't just segregate them, it would be a pointless place with no traffic in it at all, because it would be ignored.

Yes, it is left open to keep the conversation on a stalemate...C&S isn't an overly active forum on the board, so locking the topic really serves no purpose other than to stifle conversation...And, stifling conversation isn't what a forum is about...The question has been answered, and my opinion on the subject isn
