Lately...
Lately...
Lately as I look through halomods I see much change, one for the negative being ripped or stolen content, with no permission, and just credit, or no credit at all.
Credit itself isn't a problem to me that much, but its disrespectful when you spend your time on something hard for someone, and they don't even acknowledge you, and everyone beleive's they made it.

Here is a link to a post mappack, EMP, which has taken MANY bitmaps from Zone117's Mainmenu from his mappack, without proper permission. I for one helped zone ALOT with this mappack, and I don't appreciate things being taken.
Halomods has always been an amazing community and I thank the staff for it, but lately its been falling because of things like this. People are being ignorant to rules. I don't know what much can be done here, but I ask of you staff, could this somehow be brought to a more justice?
Many things have been stolen lately, bitmaps, Models(mostly from dec), Skins from xHeadshotmastax, maps from TBZ that people want to renovate.
Halomods has always been an amazing community and still is, But I believe this is one big downfall.
Could it be more prevented some how?

Thank you. I hope the report system returns sometime soon. I kind of doubt it but you never know.Tural wrote:We need the report system. That's what we need.
Anyways, that map pack was removed once before. I'm now permanently RC'ing that guy.
Temporarily could the Report button link to the topic "Enforcing Rules"?
Or directly to the posting page for that topic?
Or is that out of the question?

Education is what's needed, newcomers don't understand the complexities of their actions; they just stumble in and then scream at you when you tell them they've failed quite miserably.. it is quite sad really. But the fact that the admin of the site are hard to get in touch with is just plain pathetic... especially with such a thriving community going here, you would think they'd keep the site in check. Not to mention that everything revolves around the power they hold; fixing the report feature, fixing the edit-profile feature, making forums, changing forums, installing new php mods etc. Its insane that they are just.not.there.
I definitely agree that active, trusted moderators should become admin, although saying that, i know it'll never happen in my lifetime. It is like passing a new law, or waiting for the court hearing of a recently jailed criminal.. it takes forever.

I agree, we need them badly!!! They need to be able to do more than they can do now, lots more. They need to STAY active also, because we have been let down before by Admins saying they were gonna be active, it better not happen again.Sgt.Peppers wrote:Well if we're having a little nominating going on here, I nominate GTAF and Tural for J.A's. I think we could sure use them.
Agreed. I've been seeing a lot more ripping/no credit going on a lot more frequently around here. Although I haven't released anything to be ripped; it's unfair for the people who worked hard on something only to have some lazy ass who doesn't learn how to do it for them self and rip it out of a mod someone put their time into.
I also agree how sad it is to get something done around here. We definitely do need a couple more J.A's or an active Admin. And I also agree that either Tural or GTAF would do a great job at it; because of the fact that they are always active, and they know how to get something done.

I have never felt a bigger slap in the face (as far as modding is concerned) as when my stuff gets ripped. I try to keep a sharp eye out for stolen bitmaps, but I have been slacking of late. People deserve to have not only the credit they deserve, but to have control over who has and uses their work. Modding (particularly skinning) can be an art, and only pathetic, low-life loosers with no self-esteem steal peoples' work.
Let's all keep a better look out for this kind of stuff, and report it as soon as you find it!

I realise where you're coming from, but you do seem a little hypocritical on a a modding site. Did you ever ask Bungie if you could use there work? Do you credit them every mod you release? I fully understand and agree with you on the ripping and what not, but none of us have asked permission to use their work...theycallmechad wrote:I have never felt a bigger slap in the face (as far as modding is concerned) as when my stuff gets ripped. Plus we don't claim content in any of our mods unless the content is completely 100% ours. Consider halomods to be the unofficial Downloadable Content for the Halo trilogy. Also, getting the report mod back and full-functional would be great. There wouldn't be a need for more than maybe 4 staff (3 mods and 1 admin) to keep everything under control. Thankfully we have GTAF, Tural, and I'm still debating who claims the 3rd spot record.
