I would like more official competitions for Halo 2 (mods and skins). I would be happy to run any future contest.
I would also like an official halomods.com prize (avatar, usergroup, emblem, etc.)

I tried to get mod competition started back up once... and have vowed never to run one again, unless people act civilized, and realize that it's just a fun competition that doesn't really have any value outside of this website.
I would be happy to run one again, if people didn't get offended/rude if theirs didn't make the cut for the vote. Too many people complain/whine whenever they feel that their mod should win, because it's "so uber".

No avatars, but it would be nice to lighten up on the sig rules.

I like the sig rules, but I think it should be changed to 5 lines of text.

I don't understand why we can't have avatars. Can someone explain it, please?

Well, it keeps things clean. If you venture over to User Forums, and scan through a couple threads you'll notice your eyes going crazy, due to all the shit over the screen. Plus this being the files forum, there is already an excess of bandwidth usage, and server slow-down. So minimizing the download speeds for a webpage is always a good thing.
It's not a huge deal in my opinion that avatars aren't accessible here. I mean I didn't have an avatar for about 6 months when I first started at halomods, and I didn't complain.
Files forums and User forums are like a two-party system. Things are different, and different isn't bad.

I think that if that happened, over 75% would make their avatars emblems that they do not have.

Plus, it's just one more thing that Moderators/Admins have to worry about. And being an mod/admin on files forum takes a lot more, because not only do we have to monitor text and images, but we have to monitor/download every file to make sure that no questionable content is within the link/file.
(We literally spend hours keeping the forums clean)
If you love your Moderators/Admins then you'll support the "no-avatar" system :p

I have an idea.
Use the
Complaints and Suggestions forum.

I think it would be a nice idea to apply the same signature rules here as are used at the Users Forum. We recently eased up on them a bit, and people liked the changes.
Excal wrote:Signatures
Signatures aren't all that important here at HaloMods... in fact, you'll find most users don't even have an image in their signature.
Here's what we allow in signatures here at HaloMods:
-One Image at a maximum size of 500x120 and 75KB.
-Two or more images that ADD up to 500x120 and 75KB in TOTAL.
-Animations ARE allowed as long as they follow the above rules.
-Maximum three lines of text if you have image(s) in your signature.
-Maximum five lines of text if you don't have an image(s) in your signature.
Except maybe no animations. The Users seems to be more lenient about things of the sort.

People can't get a single frame .jpg under 75kb sometimes...I'd rather not let them try more than one frame.
Not trying to sound mean/strict or anything, but it's true.

I support it. I don't like Avatars so thats just my opinion. I'm pretty sure that emblems are the replacement for avatars. It's something you earn and the staff doesn't have to worry about it because they are all the same size.

I'm personally against having avatars; especially animated ones. Any animation, even just a very gradual fade, impairs my ability to read on the forum. People will screw off and add stupid avatars like this one:
It's not a major animation change, but you can see it out of the corner of your eye when you're reading, and it can become rather irritating.

I agree with RaVNzCRoFT 3. Avatars get out of hand too easily. It's better to just not have them at all.
Sigs are enough to personalize a profile.

Howdy. I like avatars, but only to an extent. I like them for awards (like we used to have for SOTW, MOTW, etc.) as it can show both accomplishments and status (status for the staff). I think that we users should NOT be allowed to pick our own avatars at all. In general, I like the looks of most users NOT having avatars. It makes the forum look much more professional, even though it's dominated by 12 and 13 year old kids for the most part

.
As for the contests: I ran the Haloween contest this year and thought it to be an enjoyable experience (at least for me). I would be more than happy to do more in the future. I had little problems with people complaining and had a good system for people still being able to get things off their chest. There was, if I recall, only one person this whole time who made any sort of a fuss publicly in the voting topic. The issue was resolved in PMs, and the contest went on.
