****NEW RULE PROPOSAL****

ok, this should go for the files forum as well as the regular forums. in the tech questions and problems catgory when people ask for help, i think in the topic title or in the first post they need to specify what version of halo they are haveing problems with.

i dont know if anyone else has had the same problem but this way we dont have to ask the person what version it is. and it seems as though people automatically assume its halo 2. how are we supposed to know? it would just make things more organized.

so mods/admins/rule making god think about it and post back here

thanks for your time

In a word, no. If someone is stupid enough to not specify which game they're talking about, don't bother helping them. It's as simple as that.

There's no need to be an asshole to people who need help, even if they don't think things through =/

This rule sounds good, but they're not going to use it anyway. Perhaps if there were some sort of prefix mod for phpbb2 out there somewhere it would be a little more feasible. Just deal with them. It takes like 3 seconds to say "What game are you asking about?", and hell, free post count increase. Being courteous pays off =P

Not answering someone's question is not being an asshole to him.

I'm not saying it's a bad rule, but there's really no way to enforce it well.

I like your thinking.

Ok so in the Files Forum, when someone posts a mod or model, if they arent stupid enough to specify what they posted then we should just ignore them right? The prefix's were added to lessen Confusion.

Heres what confusion means:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... =Confusion

For those who actually want to help new people mod, it would take off a lot more time in our part to know what the hell they are talking about. If all who say no, I'll be watching to see if you actually help people >_>

It would be courteous of THEM to specify what they are talking about in the first place. Theres a lot of questions around here and I like to get them over with fast and move on to the next one. It makes things less shaky, it would just be really nice is all I'm saying.

omfg double post.

Dan speaks the truth.

The person is asking for help, not to be bashed. If you can, you should always try to help.

I agree, still, I think it should be required that they say which version of halo they are needing help with, it only makes sence. It would be efficiant on both sides, they get thier help faster, we help people faster.

Yeah, but these people probably don't know what the hell they're doing anyway. Adding more rules is going to add to the confusion when they don't know what the hell is going on when their topic is locked, deleted, etc.

And just ignoring them when they don't know why they're not being helped, is just going to frustrate them, which doesn't help the situation at all.

I'm just saying that being nice and taking 2 seconds out of your time to help someone get helped makes a difference and is easier than making rules that aren't going to looked at, have a forum full of locked topics, and do we really want to add more jobs for the staff here to do?

You make an awsome point Dan.

Oh and I just thought I'd add that I never ignore people when they dont specify which version, it would just be convinient, but still, you made a good point on how it would add to the confusion by making another rule.

omfg another double post.

If this is a place where we've gone so low that we won't help people just because they did the minor mistake of not putting the version of Halo they have, even though that can be answered in in one simple sentence if somebody bothers to ask instead of yelling at them for making a little mistake, I think we have our priorities all wrong..

And raven, your job is to keep this place clean and a good and nice place to be at, not telling people to ignore and not help newbies because of what I just said.

Dan!! Is Awesome. Tags and Prefixes would add confusion, for people who dont understand how to read stickies or rules, It would just make another thing for us to Edit in and clean up. Claeaning SPam, and People posting discount Drugs and Porn is enough to clean up. I honestly dont feel like editing every single new Thread that goes into the "New Users Click Here!" section.

ok ok u guys (dan) wins.

i guess we can take the extra free posts, but it does get annoying replying to 3 topics in a row asking what version of halo they need help with. If u guys can enforce the prefix and pics rule, then adding this rule to the rules and enforce it enoguh that people see it a lot and start to do it then i think it would work out. after all u dont see many prefix issues because mostly everyone knows and reads the rules (or so we think....)

but if the mods dont think its a good idea, then thats fine, just a suggestion
