Prefixes....why?

I think that the prefix rule is somewhat unnecessary in a section such as Halo 2 Downloads. Why you ask?...because a majority of the things posted there are mods...so seeing [mod] everywhere only adds to the confusion and disorder, which is the exact opposite of what was originally intended. Think of a million brown M&Ms with one red one that stands out in the middle...it doesn't matter what color the majority is (if none at all), as long as the red one is different.

Instead of having a prefix rule I suggest making it an optional rule in which people can use to post applications or things other than mods. The topic names already look like ass so theres no need to add more clutter by having a mandatory prefix slapped in front of it, especially when the prefix says the same thing mentioned in the title. It's repetitive and quite annoying.

Please tell me what you think as I would like to hear any and all opinions on the matter.

you mean you don't like seeing [MOD]+...[\|0o|3zorZ 1st (]-[34t M0D...+ pics 4 coagulation PPF/serenity/sppf over 100000 downloads everytime you go in the halo 2 download section?

hmm weird, i kinda like it

Yes it was usefull when there wasnt a halo2 skins section.. but now i thinks its kinda pointless, maybe the new rule should be that you only need a prefix if its not an actual mod that your posting.

That's my proposition...although not necessarily making it mandatory to have a prefix if yours is different, as long as you can tell what it is by the topic name.

It would be nice to cut all the crap.

[app]Pointer Tool V2 *Update*
[Mod]-Infiltration-pyroman31 of TD *Now V2*
[ Poll ] [MOD] METROID TUNNEL by JC and xHeadshotmastax
[ Poll ] [mod] simple sp mod
[Mod]HideAway v1 (Team Spearment)
[Intro] Remix to attract (Team Renegade)
[Map]-[Mod] TheLostShip Beta akaGreenHouse - Zack6924
Halo Screencap Package
[APP]SBSP magic adjuster v2
[MOD] Halo Derby .:P8ntballer:.

I see no reason to put a modder's or team's name in the title, just put it in the thread. Topics should be contained to the name of the mod or application.

I see three there that are good topic names: Pointer Tool, SBSP Magic Adjuster, and Halo Screencap Package.

I see nothing wrong with "Halo Screencap Package"...in fact...it's the only one there I don't have a problem with :P

I honestly don't like the rule, but I didn't make it so we need to follow it. I will however take the time to fix topics without them, it's not hurting anyone.

Wasn't the idea of the prefixes to help organization and searching?

Organization issue: It makes the board sloppier, because everyone does the prefixes a different way, making it look cluttered.
Searching issue: Search "[Mod]"

There's no point to having "[trainer] Screencap Trainer". You do what you have to but my topic will stay prefixless. If you feel otherwise, please move my threads to the recycling bin.

The idea of prefixes wasn't so everyone would go and put [mod]... Obviously most of the stuff in H2 Downloads are mods, seeing how that's what this site is. What kind of mod is it? Total Conversion? Model injection? Projectile swaps? That's what it's supposed to be...

No, probably not. There are, of course, outliers such as that with everything.

What is helpful is something like this:

[Intro] Remix to attract (Team Renegade)

Now, isn't that helpful? Simply "Remix to attract" Doesn't help you at all figure out what the mod is. However, the [Intro] prefix immediately tells you what it is...

I personally think they should be an optional thing.

I don't like them. They clutter up the forums, and 95% of all threads have '[Mod]' next to them. I think people should have the right to choose whether or not they want a prefix.

Yes, I believe people should just learn how to properly label their threads so you won't have to worry about confusing others.
