Prefixes....why?
I personally am fine with prefixes, it's no real harm in typing in a few extra letters, I still believe it should be enforced so as to stop a whole lot of clutter. There are some exceptions of course, your's being one xbox7887.
If we were to remove prefixs then we would have to implement a new rule telling people that they have to describe what kind of thing is in their post, be it a mod trainer or application, which is basically the point of a prefix.
There is one problem however which I absolutley dislike about prefixes is where someone forgets or doesnt know to add a prefix and someone, usually by the name of high6 goes in and posts "prefix in 24 hours or deletion" when they clearly know that there is a report post function.
I dislike that kind of post and I dislike how the user tries to sound authorative when they don't have any power, just trying to make it seem as if they are higher than the person without a prefix.
There. Theres my views on it, hope it all made sense
edit for Chad: Way to copy what I just said in both our second parts of our rants...

I think prefixes are silly. True, it's best if people properly describe their mod/skin/app/etc. in the title, but to be honest, if they don't it does little more then get people to NOT download the mod/skin/app/etc. If I don't know what it is, I'm less inclined to even look at the thread, let alone download whatever it is. I agree that it should be optional. Let people decide for themselves how much info they want to give the community.
I must add this: I think the thing that's more annoying than the prefixes themselves is people who think they have some kind of authority saying stuff like "prefix within 24 hours or this will be deleted." These people don't have power to delete... this merely clutters up other peoples' topics, making them even less desirable to read. To me, it's people who are on their "high horse" that are the problem here. To those people: the screencap trainer isn't any less amazing just because it doesn't say [trainer] in the title. That goes for all mods/skins/apps/etc.
Edit to ScottyGEE: way to telepathically predict what I was writing at the exact time you were writing it, only to submit yours first, thereby making it look as if I, not YOU, copied .

sometimes mods arent around and thinking the person has already been told that prefix rule, hence they might get theyre topic deleted for no reason.

I'm all for it... This rule was implemented before there was a h2 skin section if I recall and that was the main problem. Too many skins in the H2 Downloads section. So the original prefix rule was created maybe around the release of the opening of the H2 Downloads section, and the H2 skins section was created around Sep 2005.. It should have been gone a long time ago. You should have spoke sooner
EDIT:: Oh, and as for the searchers.. There wouldn't be as much to search as xbox7887 has pointed out. The majority of the H2 Downloads section contains mods. The applications should be moved to the Utilties forum anyway.

I have to say, who is it harder on, the guy who has to click a couple times before finding the one he wants, or the guy who has to put it up and the hundreds that are constanlty reminding him of it?

Coulden't it be a statement as well?
"You know what I'd like to be? I mean if I had my goddamn choice, I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all."
or should I?
