I don't think so. Not having a visible form of authority causes confusion. You can't interact with people if you don't have some sort of badge of some sort.

And hey, it's not like we're being paid to do this. We're doing this in our free time, when we're not doing something else in real life. I'm not going to sit on here acting like the perfect moderator. As far as I'm concerned, I don't think anyone could truthfully do what you say. I honestly don't know of a single forum that has that level of moderating.

sorry i have neglected to post much in this thread, as i believe i stated my position on the matter in the first part, but i see a lot of debating, with good on all sides intended, it seems to me that the main pont is that the users who applyed to be arbiters just wanted a flashy symbol and name.

I think they should have not to apply but be chosen, not for being the most active, or the most reputation (although that does aid as respected modders get noticed and listened too more so than a less recognised member) but someone with the dedication and morals, and good intentions. They should be monitored and then chosen by the staff as a way of ensuring a fair selection process as well as a good team, and strictly monitoring their activity as an Arbiter.

Also i like Iron_Forge's point of invisibility, maybe not that extreme but just a word in a differant colour underneath the username (no emblem) for example

UserName
Arbiter

It's very good to hear what the community has to say, and i am happy to see the Staff and Admin expressing their opinions and observing, thank you for taking the time.

hope you can find a way to get the most out of this for the better!

I'm really getting sick of this bullshit excuse...The whole "I'm not being paid, I do this in my free time, so I don't have to care or try to do a good job, it's mine" attitude...Guess what, no one said "hey, you're a moderator now whether you like it or not, so you better do a good job"...You accepted the position, with all the responsibilities it entails...I get that your volenteer...But you need to realize volenteer means you agreed to do something...And as far as I can tell, none of you's can be bothered to do it...It's basically come down to "I'm a moderator, but I only fix things when someone PM's me to specifically go and fix it"...Few read reports, fewer fix reports, and it seems not one of you's go out of your way to fix anything...

But apparently thats OK cause you have a life outside of this place, so nothing should be expected of you...

We should be thankfull that there is a community like halomods were we have people that moderate these fourms for us. If it werent for kirk, gren, vinx,JKS ext We would have no halomods. These people take time out of there lives to moderate something like this considering that it probubly gets really hard to moderate.

Yes we do, and they willingly agreed. Many others would quickly volunteer to replace them. I'm not about to bow down for someone doing a job I'd willingly do instead of them.

yeah, you cut out a lot of people man. Ombre has worked hard since even before he was an arbiter in the beginning. Logan, gta, exile, shadowkhas, and all the mods I know put in a good bit of effort to making this a better place. I know try, how I do is for you to figure for yourselves, but sometimes it's difficult. There's only so many of us and tons of you guys, we're also in different time zones as well. I'll almost be alseep when Yomama (locke) starts work as well as some of the other mods. We try our hardest to make this forum a good place to be, otherwise the admin would demote us and get more qualified users. So the only thing I can say is that either help us by bringing in reports (we do read them) and be the best member you can or leave. Stop blamming all of these forum's problems on us. The only reasons we have moderators is to keep the users (that's you guys ;) ) in line. So if you guys would act right, there wouldn't even be a need for the mods.

Haveing mods in diffrent time zones is a great advantage.
Having another rank that has no real athority is pointless, We wont PM them when there is porn posted, we wont PM them when we get abusive PM's, Therefor, all they could do is tell people to add a prefix in 24 hours or deletion, ext. What HUGE difrence is it to bring back the Arbiters?

you're presuming again lonestar. If the arbiters were to even be considered their powers would not be like before. But a step like that is a rather large step, so let's cross that if we even get to it. But trust me when I say, all having more mods will do is making this forum 1% greener from it's nice blue. Maybe a little yellow wouldn't be so bad?

But blue and yellow make green. >_>

But yeah...I do agree that the report post function pretty much makes everyone an arbiter.

Well, I'm not a moderator, or a JA, or an admin...And I still put forth a large effort to make this site a better place...And get this, I don't get paid for it either...I didn't even agree to do it...I go out of my way to do it...Because I happen to like the site...

And I've gone out of my way again because I knew it was all a secret plot to promote friends into power to make your lives more easy to sit back with your shiny avatars...I spoke with various sources, got several stats (which can't be posted here, but I'd be glad to show the math to any JA/Admin), and have come to the conclusion you're all lazy bastards, and I can't find any of this "hard work" you supposedly put in...

Halomods today is sucssefull, So you cant really call anyone lazy. These admins can acknowledeg anyone worthy of a moderator possition. These stats you say you have may not even be accurate. If your not going to share with us what info you have, you should even say you have that info. There is not one post you can find were a admin/mod/JA should have done something like lock the topic, delet the topic ext.

When you post "I Do it for free, I dont agree to do it, ext" it sounds almost like your complaining that you HAVE to make halomods better.

You take it wrong, that's why. Do you expect to make me give up my life to sit on here 24/7 and work on making this site the best it can be? Anyone in their right mind will say no. I come on here when I can, and I most certainly do not just have this rank for the shiny avatar. Does it look like I have the avatar? I don't need an avatar. That's not why I have this job.

You said it yourself, you're not a moderator, JA, or Admin. Maybe if you actually were one you could think what we think. You know what? I'm sick of that. Sick of people basing their assumptions on completely false pretense.

As for what you say about promoting our friends so we can sit back and let someone do our work... All you seem to care about is to put us down without actually having proof of anything you say, as I mentioned previously.

I'm not trying to put you down here, but when you say you're trying to make halomods a better place, all I'm seeing is that you want to put a bad name on us so we can get demoted and "better" people can fill our spot. I'm sorry, but that's not going to help.

Ombre
Kirk
Logan
SHOUTrvb...

best ones here...

And really WHERE are the admins! i have not seen one in...........wait i HAVENT seen one...if i have it was a post that was made atleast a YEAR ago!

Ombre i swear hes got a good position but if it were up to me! admin in a heartbeat hes Dedicated and he sticks up for people instead of just sayin...DONT FLAME...

But iron forge has a point...

Arbiter submission...I never saw this thread...GREAT way for trouble! because you can get the most Backstabbing liar EVER....

Veegie? sorry your a good guy and everything but your constant...Spell checks and of course useing your sopisticated vocabulary gives me the wrong feeling...

Xero? ehh...im not going there...

Iron Forge...Hmm got good intentions but he seems....YOU seem like you would be just a LIL bit too strict...

and i barely ever see encouragement inless its from ombre or some of the NICER people in the Halo pc file forum...Halo2 downloads....just the other day this guy said his map dosnt deserve to be on Mimesis...And also i dont really like how Logan isnt a full moderator...Logan your an awesome guy and your sig cracks me up everytime and ive never had a complaint with you...

And whoever took that little Escapade out of Xero's Sig Thanks...

all im sayin is why are the good people not mods or in a lower position logan kirk and some others are proof of this too...
