[Suggestion]Political Debate Of the Week(PDOTW)
Surprise! They're the same thing.Royal wrote: i don't spam i somtimes go offtopic.
Cuda: Royal didn't make you go off-topic, you chose to add to the cycle.
Technically what I just said could be counted as off-topic spam but it had to be cleared up.
Now for my post:
I think this is a good suggestion but I do not think it would work out.
Too many people have too many opinions that too many times would collide with other's opinion's.
So, sorry, I vote No.

Political debates is the main thing that led to the request of the cafe. I think that it not only should it be allowed, it should be encouraged.
As for the whole halomods thing, I'd like to think that we aren't a forum about modding halo, or even about halo anymore, but a community centered around halo modding, and I think a community should be allowed to conversate among itself about what it wants to.
As for the whole moderating thing, I think that the halomods staff can decide on that. There is about a million of you guys. =P

And if we arent a forum about modding halo anymore, why the hell is grenadiac still paying for halomods hosting if we dont even mod anymore, rather we sit and debate politics instead while everyone that wants to learn how to mod go somewhere thats actually resourceful instead of 90% of the people ignoring them and throw fists of political parties at eachother.
If this plan went through i dont think i could even stand being at halomods anymore.
It is the cafe section it would be in and things in there don't have to relate to Halo. Also, since when was the last time you saw some jaw-dropping mod or advancement in any of the versions of Halo (excluding H2). Nothing great has really happened and we're just waiting for Halo 2 PC or Halo 3.multi-genre wrote:Encouraged?Dan!! wrote:Political debates is the main thing that led to the request of the cafe. The only things that really go on here are a few questions about this or that and some Halo 2 modding. Not much else.
I don't think you get it.multi-genre wrote:Encouraged?

Yeah, you don't get it at all.why the hell is grenadiac still paying for halomods hosting if we dont even mod anymore
You definitely don't get it. The keyword that's wrong here is instead. It's not like we're discussing politics in the freaking Halo PC Modding forum.rather we sit and debate politics instead
If someone leaves halomods for something they saw in an offtopic forum on the site, I think maybe they should leave.while everyone that wants to learn how to mod go somewhere thats actually resourceful instead of 90% of the people ignoring them and throw fists of political parties at eachother.
Then maybe you should've left when the Cafe was made.If this plan went through i dont think i could even stand being at halomods anymore.
I don't really care if you like GTA or not, but take a look at gtaforums.com. They have a very successful forum about ALL of GTA, and manage to not only have discussions about the gameplay of GTA, the modding of GTA, and etc, they have an OFFTOPIC GENERAL SECTION, which in no way interferes with the rest of the site.
I think that we should move towards becoming a COMMUNITY. If we want to stay a place solely on modding halo, then delete the forums and stick up a database full of the facts of modding and tutorials, and route them to a helpful irc channel if they need more help, because it'd probably serve them just as well as our forums do now.
more like a politically segrigated community.Dan!! wrote:I don't think you get it.multi-genre wrote:Encouraged?

Well, i have stated my oppinnion too much and if i do anymore it will be classified as spam really so im not posting in this topic anymore, if you want to come with a comeback Dan, go ahead, ill read it, and i have nothing against you really its just this idea thats making me pissed.
Well I'm assuming that we can debate in a civilized manner of putting our ideas out there and defending them and questioning others. It's more of an exchange of ideas than a pointing of fingers back and forth (well, it's supposed to be =P)multi-genre wrote:more like a politically segrigated community.

I don't think that stating your opinion would be spam, as your opinion pertains to the subject anyway. Also, sorry if my reply sounded... aggressive at all, it wasn't intended to be, but I realized that it sounded like it afterwards and of course you can't edit your posts in this forum. So I'm really not implying that I want you to leave or anything like that.
I'm pretty sure that as much as the idea makes you pissed, it's something that I think is important in improving the forums so that it doesn't die in between modding droughts. Not to mention I've been pushing for the overall concept of the Cafe for nearly 2 years now, and I consider political debates to be a large portion of it.
