New to Halo 3

Okay guys. Yesterday I went and bought Halo 3 from Gamestop, brought it home, and was going to play it when my 360 CRASHED... Yeah, I know, right? Well me, being anxious to play it, almost immediately wanted to know what the game is like. I have friends that have told me already that the Campiagn Mode sucks. They say it's short, and that this time there was not enough storyline packed into it, like Halo CE and Halo 2. However, I was also told by my friends that the Multiplayer rocks the house. Nice, big, juicy maps with a decent veriety of weapons. Are they right?
I'd like to know if my freinds are just messing with me like they usually do, or if they actually are telling me the facts this time. Not that I don't trust my friends, I just really want to know how good the game is...
Thanks, and hope to see you guys on Live as soon as humanly possible...

First, go and tell your friends they're fucking retarded.
Next, the campaign in Halo: CE won like every story mode medal/award ever. Halo 2's was decent, and Halo 3's is better than Halo 2's.
Also, Mutliplayer is awesome, as it was in 1 and 2. Same run-and-gun concept, except different maps and also being HD. Some of the weapons have been altered a little, and the physics engine has been altered, but it's a fun, playable game. Tonight, I'm going to stand in-line until Midnight for my copy of Halo Wars: Limited Collectors Edition so that I can get the 3rd Map Pack that's been released.
Online, Bungie has released 2 map packs already. The first is the "Heroic Map Pack" which includes "Foundry," "Standoff," and "Rat's Next." Second, being the "Legendary Map Pack" which includes "Avalanche," "Ghost Town," and "Blackout." Two of which are remakes from previous games -- Avalanche being a remake of Sidewinder, and Blackout being a remake of Lockout from Halo 2. The map map that I'm getting tonight is the "Mythic Map Pack" which includes "Sandbox," "Assembly," and "Orbital."
There's also another map pack coming out with "Halo: ODST" (A campaign-expansion pack for Halo 3 where you play as an ODST Marine) that's been deemed the "ODST Map Pack" which includes "Heretic," "Longshore," and "Citadel." One of which is remake. That is all.

The multiplayer in terms of ranked gets dull and boring real quick because of the way the levels work. Social is fun when you get a group of people to play with and you can just mess around. Gameplay is slower than Halo 2. Campaign is decent, not something worth replaying to me though.

Halo2<Halo1<Halo3>Halo2
No no, what I meant was Halo1 is still the best. Halo3 in second and Halo2=fails hard. Besides the modding aspect.

Halo 1's campaign was better than Halo 2. Halo 2 had more weapons and vehicles making the gameplay more fun than Halo 1. Halo 3's campaign was better than Halo 1 and 2 and even more was added. Making the gameplay even better. Halo 3 is still one of my favorite games.

Halo 3's multiplayer is still a ton of fun to play with friends. For some reason, everything turns hilarious when you play with a bunch of people you know.
I still replay the campaign, although almost entirely for the tricking aspect of it. Having already beaten Solo/Legendary, I wouldn't really play it again just to beat it.

Monkey People, and of course the skulls. You receive an achievement for each gold skull that you find, though.

Wait a sec... so, there's no more skulls that make you lose your HUD or shoot things and their heads blow up... no more of that? Just random golden skulls...?
Then again, if there's monkey men, I don't suppose that it's all thatbad.

Gold skulls (mythic, catch, etc.) are score multipliers and make the game more difficult.
Silver skulls (blind, IWHBYD, grunt birthday party, and cowbell) are just for fun.

They're not literally gold.

All of the use the same model. The only change in color is when you select them in the Mainmenu.

The Blind and Grunt Birthday Party skulls do those things.
The main differences between the Halo 2 and Halo 3 skulls is that you don't have to grab them each time you play, and their effect doesn't begin immediately when you grab them like it did in Halo 2. Once you get a skull you have to enable it's effect in the campaign lobby, and it's available to use whenever you want to.
