The tower thing seems like what is in Sandtrap, where when driving around out of bounds, sometimes you can see nearly nonexistent lasers shooting at you from the towers.
But this time it does something. Awesome.

Well, we got the maps today and found all of the skulls. Pure easteregg hunting :o)

They where imo a little to easy, but then again the mp maps are small to hide something on.
