The new Halo 3 map

Post by DrXThirst »

Yeah, no more Purple Reign until the 3rd DLC installment. Anyways, nickname for the new one that's going to be in the next DLC is "Moonlight Sonata".

I googled it and this is what I got:

Something tells me the first nighttime based Halo map?

From what I vaguely remember...None of the nicknames had nothing to do with the map itself...eg: Art Vandelay was for one of the Heroic maps...

But hey...I would really actually like a night map.

Art Vandelay did actually have something to do with Foundry. Though, the reference is hard to get.

In the sitcom, Seinfeld, George Castanza wanted to be an architect, and his "altar ego" who was Art Vandelay, was an architect. In foundry, you are basically the architect of the map, building up anything you want.

Art Vandelay = Architect
Foundry = Architect(Forge based map)

The map nicknames do bear relevance to the map's content, obscure as they may be.

I think this lead is more logical based on the obscurity of previous names.

Yeah, Standoff was really easy to figure out.
I forgot what the name of it was, but if you googled it, you got pictures of huge satellites.

The satellites, however, have no impact on the content of the map. Night is much more a part of the gameplay than background scenery is. I think it's too shallow to take "Moonlight" and associate it with "Night." There's very likely a deeper meaning to the name than that.

What would you assume it to be?
I still have to stick with it being a darker map.
Maybe it won't be nighttime, but a little later in the afternoon than StandOff.

I don't have any idea what it would be. I'd never have guessed the previous maps based on their names. I'm simply stating that moonlight-dark is too shallow of a reference for it to fit in with the others.

I think Halo 3 could use a night-time map.

its one great big mystery "Moonlight Sonata" could be anything :P
but i think it might like a moon base or a remake of a old map set at night
or it might be a map that set in the middle of the day and they're just using that name to mess with our heads ^_^

I would have said its based around a lake (the song moonlight sonata was inspired by Lake Lucerne a quick search reveals), but:
1) Bungie wouldn't give away such obvious info
2) You need to jump at a skill level that isn't retarded ;p
3) its a small map
4) Sounds almost like a tightly woven level if fusion coils play a more vital role than normal...

So that makes me not bothered to look into it more :P

Or I'll just go with general concenssus and say "zomg it must be lockout!"...but based on a lake...However I'd say that's unlikley (being lockout)

Technically its only me animating though ;)

Wizard > Warlock > ??????

If it is a wizard remake what would they name it to stick to the theme?

I don't think the name was given because of features on the map, but rather it reminding Frankie of this peice called ''Moonlight Sonata'' by Beethoven.
