Called the Heroic Map Pack, it features three new maps: Standoff, Rat's Nest, and Foundry. Standoff is described in the press release as a "symmetrical valley, with its entrenched bases and fields of boulders [making it] ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types." Rat's Nest is "an indoor vehicle paradise," supposedly inspired by the campaign and suited for big team battles. And Foundry, perhaps most interestingly, is a map designed specifically for Forge manipulation; using the in-game map editing tools, "players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, place stairways, walls, bridges and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map they can think of." So get on that, game-developer wannabes. Now if you think $10 bucks is a bit steep for three new maps, rest assured that, as with Halo 2's downloadable content, they will eventually become free...if wait a while. All three maps will be free in spring 2008, "just prior to the next wave of all new 'Halo 3' multiplayer maps." Devious!
I am so Excited!!! YAY!!!

I figured Bungie would announce it first, considering they said they'd reveal them today. :|

From what I've seen, Bungie never announces anything first.

Because other sources are too eager to publish information.

you don't deserve an xbox :P lol

and yes, standoff looks to be my new favorite map. I can't wait to play it.

I love outdoorsy maps like that and valhalla.

All these new maps look like they resemble either the trip to voi, or voi itself. I was hoping for a little more variety, and actually more covenanatnessity but I'm still glad these new maps are coming out soon, and just to my luck they come out the day after I'm un-grounded/suspended

Foundry was designed from the beginning to be a Forge level. There is an almost limitless amount of potential map designs that can be made by arranging objects in different configurations.
Called it!
