When looking at the "stat tree" on bungie, it shows that when you get to be a spartan officer, there are ranks that take and equal amount of EXP to get. I'm just wonder how this works out.

Im not certain but i believe the "skill" part is ur highest level on ranked matches, so without ranked u stay at gunnery sergeant etc...

You need skill and exp to level up once you hit officer you can still rank up but it would take longer an example i am a Major right now i need 300 exp to go to the next rank Major grade 2 but if i was to get level 35 skill or higher i would skip grade 2 major and go right to Commander.
