The beginning (spoilers)

Arrival. The first level of Halo 3, starts out with Master Chief lying down because he fell down from space.

Well, how I remember it, Chief was last seen flying in a Forerunner ship on his way to Earth.

So, how'd he go from flying in a ship, to falling into Sergeant Johnson's camp?

I may have missed a secret ending from H2 or I'm missing some detail I that I don't remember, but I'm just trying to get this cleard up for myself.

It isn't addressed in the game. The only hint at what happens is that Uprising takes place between Halo 2 and Halo 3.

He jumped, fell 2km. Seargeant Johnson found him by getting his landing coordinates and landing nearby via pelican.
