Why did Bungie make the Needlers no longer dual weildable?
The only reason I ever picked them up in Halo 2 was to dual weild them.
They seem so pointless now.
Anyone feel the same?

Then how about "Why did they change them so much?"

Well they should have always been powerful, I mean shooting needles into people, that then explode..

Why did they take the lockon from the rocket launcher, why did they make the pistol stronger, why did they make the brute shot not bounce and have a different size ammo, why did they make the sniper harder to aim. Its called weapon balancing. Unlike halo 2 where certain weapons had very strong advantages now there basicly all even, no matter what weapon you charge in with you can win. Its all skill now instead of overpowered weapons and cheap tricks.

I think it's dumb how they introduce somthing and then take it away so quickly.
The Needler is one example, and you pointed out the Rocket Launcher and Brute Shot thing.
The Sniper Rifle was a good call though, they're supposed to be hard to aim.

The needler was never supposed to be dual wielded..
look at halo combat evolved and see how much it was a killer there.

They took lock-on away from the rocket because they gave it to the missile pod...

and nah-duh the weapons weren't dw'able in h1. Hellawack he was talking about how you used one needler in h1...

I see, the Rocket Launcher change was fair then.

The reason the needler wasn't dual wieldable in Halo 1 was because they didn't have the idea of dual wielding in Halo 1, thus the reason for none of the weapons being dual wieldable.

i would rather have no dual wielding and beable to throw grenades than have to drop a gun to throw a grenade and get corpse humped by some 12 year old because they assasinated me.

read the books..you might gain a IQ or two.

lawl, anyway. They most likely had the Idea of dual-wielding in halo 1... but didn't implement it. Play halo 1,2, and then 3. Kill someone with 1 needler in each game.. Check the results then return to us. Discuss your findings..

It's the fact that Needlers are the same size as other dual wieldable weapons and that they took the ability to dual them so quickly that bothers me.

Meh, they made the needler not suck like it did in Halo 2 multiplayer.

look dudes, it doesn't really matter why they didnt make the needler dual wieldable, the point is, it kicks ass now. It's definately a weapon worth picking up. Now stop complaining why Bungie did this and that. Just like God, they do everything for a reason. In this case, weapon balancing.

Bungie had the ideas for dual wielding look at marathon (1995) they used dual wielding in that. For halo 1 the needler was originally intended to be a single held weapon.

If it kicks ass then it's not really balanced.

skill or not, you need to have weapons that overpower others, then you throw them in a choke point and have everyone running for them. why would i ever want to pick up a rocket launcher again if i could just school you with one smg? look at other FPS's they all have at least one overpowered weapon that everyone runs for like quake and the BFG. to me that is balance. not all weapons should be the same, that doesnt make for skill or better players, it's just who shot first.
