[[SOME OF THIS MAY HAVE BEEN MENTIONED BEFORE. I DONT KNOW. I COULDNT REALLY THINK OF ANYTHING TO SEARCH FOR TO SEE. IF IT'S ALREADY KNOWN, THEN MODS, PLEASE DELETE THIS. HAVE FUN.
HOPE THIS IS INSIGHTFUL.
----------------------------------------
... So, the makers of Halo have been going on about this BIG secret behind the story of Halo 3, and what the major story twist is...
Earth is a Halo.
At the end of Halo 2 they say that Prophet is going to the Ark... We already know that the Ark is the backup device if any/all of the Halos should be destroyed. Well. The trailer for halo 3 shows something i never quite noticed before. The big crater cannon thing... There are about 40 of them on the outside of every Halo ring... So... The "Ark" is the Eighth, Secret halo device, disguised as a planet.
The prophet is leading the Flood to earth, cause then they're in close enough proximity for the Eighth Halo to take them out in a single blast.
MY EVIDENCE:
Here's the big crater cannon thing on Earth...
Here's the Halo from Halo 1 Menu. Look above "Campagna" and below "Riconoscimenti"
And under the H of HALO in this picture:
(You can even see the big flap-up door things.
Here is that same feature as seen in Halo 2. Under the ship and in the upper right:

So.... THEREFORE. The world is hollow.
The idea of a Halo is life comes from the INSIDE of the Ring.
Now...That explains human life itself.
Human life originated inside the ring. Gravity became too much, or an object of significant gravitational pull got trapped in the CENTRE of the halo. Gradually more and more rock collided and a sphere shape emerged.
... Humans found a way to navigate to the OUTSIDE of the ring, where an atmosphere had developed.
They broke out from a crater in Kenya... MOUNT KILOMANJARO (The cradle of life!!!) This is where the Halo 3 trailer takes place (CONFIRMED BY BUNGIE). And that is how life on earth began.
...So. Halo 3 is gonna be...
- Every body in our solar system is a Halo.
- The Earth Halo blows up. Taking all sentient life with it. (Hence the stormy skies in the poster)
- We discover that the forerunners, the race who built the Halos inhabit the hollow places under the crust of our worlds. On the inner Halos of the worlds in our system. That

Just because they look kinda similar does not prove anything. They aren't exactly identical.
It's more likely that it is the Ark, not a Halo ring inside the planet.
Notice: (From G4's "Icons" - Bungie episode)

You can see it says "Earth_Ark" and the image is the same as that seen in the announce trailer.

The images I posted show the Ark opening, same as in the announce, and clearly say "Earth_Ark" on them. They also show an opening in the center, as the announce structure's does.

Yes, Earth is a "Halo" for all intensive purposes in that it holds a giant weapon that can destroy all life within a few "galactic radii", it also can activate all the other Halos - HOWEVER, considering how much of Halo seems to be exactly like the old testament, I'm going to BET that the Ark itself can also PROTECT you from the Halos, probably in the same way that was described in Ghost of Onyx - suspension in slipspace.
Also, unless you're deaf, Cortana says "This is the way the world ends", Cortona, being of human construction, would most likely refer to Earth as "the world", and other planets as something else.
Not to mention, the MC seamed to think the Ark was on Earth, and they definitely said that the Ark would activate the rest of the Halos.
Edit
Oh, and that's a storyboard from the announcement trailer, by the way.

Whilst your video images
say clearly Earth_Ark, the Announcement trailer does not. So it would seem you are basing this on them looking similar, if not identical. Which is what thingy was doing above, just seems kinda hypocritical is all...

Also, I never said I was right. I never even said it was the Ark in the announce. I said it's more likely and that the images and the announce both show the scene of a similar structure opening, with a hole in the center.
Now, re-reading my post. I notice that I said "the image is the same." This would be my mistake. "Image" was the wrong word to use, "scene" would have been more suited.

Oooh, nice points people!
In regards to your pictures, Tural, nicely spotted. But. A bit of constructive criticism. As the others say, it looks similar. Notice the fact that in that storyboard, the flaps are like triangular chevrons that then have sections that open up from them to form pointed arches. Whereas the structure in the announcement trailer simply shows the big blocky flaps, which as i said very much reflect the inner design of the circles seen around the Outer Ring of a Halo Megastructure. In the end, the final never reflects the storyboard perfectly, but it seems odd that the storyboard of the "Earth_Ark" shows this big, angled spiked arch thing emerge, and what looks to be a shockwave or outward blast... While the final is a stucture that resembles the "Circles" and simply fires a beam.
My memory isnt that great, so i cant remember whether we've already seen this happen... Which would prove me wrong on this... But, personally, i'd imagine that when the Halo detonates, there's the big flash on the inside, (a la Delta Halo, end of H2) and then the circles round the outside OPEN, and beams blast out shortly followed by a gigantic explosion...
One other thing i'd like to point out is... Why did they prefix it "
Earth_"Ark... Could that possibly mean there's more than just one?

I mean. Yeah. It could mean ARK location under the EARTH portion of the game... But that would also raise the question as to "Wait a second, so Halo 3 doesnt only take place on Earth as people were saying before?"
But then, i guess there's gotta be a LOT more to the story than just Returning to Earth and beating the Prophet to the Ark...
More feedback. This is making interesting conversation.

I'm guessing that "Earth_Ark_09" is the 9th level in the game, which takes place on earth. Chief/dervish may mean you play as chief and arby in this level. Frankie said the trailer takes place near end of the game, (3/4 into Halo 3 if I remember right), so 9th level makes sense.

He said it was about 1/3 into the game. Also, don't base the story on what's written on a storyboard. "Dervish" could be from something to the left of it.

My little theory:
Humans are forruners.
Proof:Reclaimers have to be human.
The earth is the ark.
Proof:The prophet goes to the earth when after the halo's almost activate. covies also came upon the earth without knowing its the humans home world.
The ark protects you from the rings.
Proof:Point one.
The earth probably isn't a construction, but a planet which they inhabited and put the necessary installations in to make it the ark.
I don't know what of that has already been stated. But whatever, my cent.

I disagree with all your points except that the Ark protects you from the rings. For one thing, just look at the name. "The Ark". An ark is something that protects or shelters something (Noah's Ark). The only other thing that makes sense besides sheltering you from the rings is that when activated, it unlocks something. Im not goin to guess what it unlocks however.

The Ark is the control center from which all of the Halos can be activated. Fact.
The Halo Story Pages wrote:The empire of the Forerunner was indeed vast. Beneath the surfaces of countless worlds their artifacts and installations lie buried, for the most part untouched by the passage of time. Stones and relics found at each location contained coordinates leading to even others. Many of the Human worlds were accidentally located by the Covenant this way: Reach and Earth, being the most recent examples. They were also used to find Halo 04, and from some relic on Earth (though he apparently had not discovered the "main facility" yet) Regret located Halo 05. The Halos, the seven rings, left in their perpetual orbits after activation and the subsequent destruction of their creators, are nothing short of astounding. But as revealed by 343 Guilty Spark, there remains yet another piece of their puzzle.
Hypothesized and speculated on for some time but only revealed in Halo 2's conclusion, the Ark is still shrouded in mystery. Located on Earth, the Ark is a primary center from which the entire Halo network may be remotely activated. It is not known whether the Ark will preserve the lives of those who set it off (unlike the Halos which destroy even the life upon their surfaces), but because the name itself is an allusion to a biblical sanctuary during a storm, it is implied that it will.
Does the location of the Ark have anything to do with the Prophets' mad zeal to annihilate Mankind? What does it mean that Humanity occupies the world of the Ark, and possibly the last haven of the Forerunner in this galaxy? Is this yet another clue as to why 343 seems content to call every Human a "Reclaimer", yet not a Forerunner? Stay tuned...
