Et Tu, clue maybe?

Post by JK-47 »

Just a little theory of mine about Halo 3, and how bungie got the Et Tu for thier Et Tu Brute update.

Et Tu - And you/you too?

Et Tu was used in the book "Julius Caesar" by William Shakespear. Caesar's loyal friend Brutus decided to join a group of conspirators (a group of people against a leader), lead by Cassius to kill Caesar.
When they made thier move to kill Caesar, Caesar's last words were "Et Tu Brutus?". Hence Julius' friends name "Brutus, (Brute).

There are a lot of events in the book Julius Caesar that would fit into Halo 3 (like a mass betrayal, maybe Elites, Grunts, Jackals, and Hunters betray the Covenant? Or maybe Cortana betrays the Cheif? Dunno)

I dunno, post your ideas :)

Side note: You can find the Et Tu Brute video here:

Good call, JK-47, I was kind of thinking the name had some irony to it, but just waved it off. I think it is entirely possible.

Wow. That's interesting.

"Et tu" is French if anyone is wondering.

Yes, but in isn't it Latin in Julius Caesar? I recall it being "E tu?"

It wouldn't make sense for Julius Caesar speaking French.

Actually JK-47, his last words were "Et tu, Brute? - Then fall, Caesar!"
He says "Brute," which would be more suited as "Brut
