I noticed this a while back, take a look at the Snowbound screenshot, specificly at the red Spartan with the shotgun and the SMG on his hip.
That can only be some kind of launcher because the magazine tube is above the barrel, the M90's pump action mechanism would not allow another normal 8 gauge shell to be chambered there, and the flashlight is on the left side of the gun.
The thing most shotguns have right there is called the magazine tube. Its where the shells are stored untill they are fed into the chamber. the M90 has dual magazine tubes above the barrel (the thing the sights are on). The Halo 1 and 2 shotguns both had a flashlight under the barrel, now the flashlight is on the left side of the pump grip.
There are now two open ended barrels where before there was one. This could only mean the shotgun now has some sort of secondary fire.
Meh, true. But what would fire it then? Left Trigger? Then you can't toss a grenade. Unless it just launches a grenade out, and it works just like throwing except you can shoot it farther than you can throw. Not completely useful, but not totally out of the question either.

It could just be the bar the pump grip rides on, but i dont see why bungie would move the flashlight to the left side just to leave a useless metal tube where it was..
My guess is some sort of secondary fire AND that it would be used by the x button. My prediction (which is probably wrong so you shouldn't listen to me) is that some of the weapons will have a secondary fire and that is what it is used for. This could also explain why the needler is going back to single weildable because (my guess again don't listen) that it's secondary fire is something to the effect of firing all the needles at once. For other guns (eg battle rifle) it would alternate firing modes (semi-auto, 3 round burst, etc.). Once again these are just my opinions, so please don't quote me on this... or flame me.
