The Official Halo 3 Forge/Gametypes Thread.
bet the name also helps get it chosen, unless bungie renames a badly named but very well designed map.

Bungie doesn't lie about features. They specifically said you can not edit geometry. If you could, they would just avoid mentioning it. Considering how many times it has been stated that it will not, I'm amazed that you think it's still going to. So now, please end the discussion of that because you have absolutely zero evidence to support it, and you're telling people it will happen as if you have proof. Proof which doesn't exist.drxthirst2 wrote:We'll see about that in September.

My goodness. Forge would almost completely eliminate my need to mod... Level design is what I like most. Even with the tools we have for H2 now, the things I want to do still feel like carving a canoe out of a sequoia with a scalpel.
I'll still miss my weapon mods though... I only use my own weapons these days.
I am concerned that the monitor will be very easy to cheaply exploit in-game, and that many or most of the kids you run into online will reach into some obnoxious little bag of tricks at the first sign of danger. It's basically a big battle rifle in that regard. Or like modders on Live who are unbannable. The honor system is too precarious, assuming there are no checks and balances. Unless you know the people you're playing with or manage to find others who adhere to a high ethical standard of play, cheap play must be legislated out of the game, or it will be exploited shamelessly.
For example, they could allow you to only switch to the monitor a set number of times per game; make you lose all your lives if you get killed as the monitor; make the whole team lose if the monitor gets killed three times; let the opposing team sacrifice a certain number of lives as a way of disabling the other team's ability to become monitor; create a temporary barrier beyond which monitors cannot go; etc. I would love for these things to be configurable in the gametype, but I'm dubious.
As is, it sounds like a lot of fun, but I think it's too wide open. You have to find people you can trust. Needles in haystacks.

You don't have to join games where 10 year olds see how many boxes they can stack and spawn random crap . As far as I can tell forge wont interfere too much with core gameplay, you can't actually edit the maps jsut the objects on them, player spawns, weapon spawns, vehicle spawns, and spawning objects....
from CNN-
"i love water. i dont love drugs. i dont want drugs in my water..why on earth is hannah montana more important than this?"

Yeah, my friend emailed that to me earlier...blowing random crap up and making giant explosions is what Forge is/will be about.

New Bungie Podcast is up, I'm downloading it now. It's from what I understand all about Forge.
http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx ... &cid=12734
Edit: Listened to it, very informative. You can create maps, save them, and load them in any custom game (that way you can play 8 vs 8 or whatever with larger players). Yay.

When the halo 3 section is created will there be a Forge forum?
