I think it will be called Marathon.
Some were I heard that halo was a prequel to marathon.

To be perfectly honest, the person who posted that is a babbling idiot. He covers his plot holes by saying "That's the way it is because I say so." That is the most underthought analysis I have ever heard.

That doesn't explain that at all. There are a million other reasons why that could be the case.

Book authors were given creative freedom, and the events in the book do not necessarily parallel events in the games.

Let me say something nobody else has said about the planet.
Who says it's part of the story? It could just be a little tribute they put in there for the fans of the past games. I don't see why everyone over-analyzes when given no reason to do so. There is nothing that confirms it is from Marathon, and there certainly isn't anything to confirm it's relevant to the story. I'll be sure to let the 3 Sergeant Johnsons know this. (It's a reference to the occurrence of several Johnsons in Halo 1, which had nothing to do with the story at all.)

Yes, but there was considerably more backing evidence to support Tural during that time. Everything was still sort of in the air of interpretation. Now there's almost no evidence whatsoever to support the fool who Swordfang was quoting, and yet he's calling them out as fact. Tural was basically just saying the same thing I am; there's no evidence to make such claims..

That wasn't a bandwagon jump. It was a factually supported assertion. There were documented concept art images labeling that structure as the Ark. There was evidence straight from the developer that supported that theory. The two situations are not similar at all.

why does everyone clinch to the idea that mc will return? bungie already said that it will not follow mc in the story anymore. maybe and i'm just hopping it will be (halo 4) back in the time of the forerunners. there's still alot of things unclear about them.

halo movie go back and forth between being and not being in production a bit too much so i just stop following it but i don't know how they are going with the plot and stuff...might be interesting to see what they came up with.

and with the simarlaties between halo and marathon. every thought bungie likes to throw in stuff for no reason? just to mess with our minds?

Incorrect. Officially, they state it is the end of this story arc, but they don't specify what "this" is. It could be Chief, it could be the Halo rings, it could be something else. There is no way of knowing.

hinted at yes but it wont be called halo it will most likely return to the roots of Marathon.

and the movie claims to be cancled but they are still holding casting calls for a halo movie and the script has not yet been tossed...so maybe not imdb is still hosting it as 2009 it would have been removed by now if it were.

my guess is 2010 there will be a halo movie just like Rainbow Six in 2010.
