And I would assume with how hardcore they went with making the engine's simulation as replicatable and predictable as possible, that the creatures like birds and fish wouldn't need to actually be synced across machines (even though all objects have a set of basic traits which are serializable) due to the machines using the same random seeds and inputs.
Just a little FYI, the simulation verification in campaign is much stricter than in MP; changes you would normally be able to get away with on one machine in MP, but not change on another machine in the same game, causes the campaign game to end.
