It's been in discussion for a long time. Also, just because one of the Ninjas said it does not make it confirmed, or official, or anything. They're just speculating like members are. Nick posted something interesting on HBO though.

wait now im confused, tural is talking about map editing and the thread starter is talking about saved films, which is it? and the link is stupid it just takes you to a reply to something.

If i remember corectly the said that you will be able to do a whole bunch to saved films like look at different players, 'shift camera angles', and pause, replay, and slow down the footage. look at the mulitiplayer vid doc. and as for the editor tural seemed to post a good link, its all speculation.

Whoops, I read the topic as map editor.

Anyways, uh, the saved film editor has been official, public knowledge for a really long time.

No. It's not even a readable format. It's just cache, from what I know, that is saved and then played back...That's why you can have 100 videos and never use even a GB of storage.

Yep. The video file is basically a collection of information that it gives to the engine, which recreates the scene based on what the file tells it.

If that didn't help, then think of it this way...the saved film is really just a file that tells the game that player X was doing action Y with weapon Z while particle effect 1 was going off at -24, 24, 12.

Im sure if Microsoft released an official accessory to record whats happening on the xbox, it would sell well.
But yeah basically you'd have to use your VCR, capture card or HDD recorder for that stuff and then convert/transfer to your computer. No actual proper video file (eg wmv) recorder for it.

Frame 243234 whatever
player X Coors X,Y,Z
Active partical at X,Y,Z rotation y,p,y frame blah

But realy about this movie thing i think this is going to be the EASYEST way for people to make movies. (red vs. blue)

Clearly you don't, if you're suggesting you can just take the video to your computer and have it be a video file.

You can if you have a capture card (which I do, so I'm rather enthusiastic about the whole thing).

That's common sense. Also, this thread is not about this discussion. It's about editing the film files.
