matchmaking in Halo 3?

Post by 522Viper »

What will it be like? I'm assuming it will be the same as the matchmaking in Halo 2.

Meh this is pretty useless of a topic.

Bungie has stated that it will be a lot like halo 2's but there will be filters to let yourself get a map or certain game type. As for custom games they said that there will be private games and public games, where anyone one can join if its public, but in private only friends/clan members can join.

I hereby declare this thread useless.

I'd like you to explain the details of Bungie's system link matchmaking to me.

Matchmaking and selecting a server from a list both have pros and cons. I pretty much don't care what they choose to do.

FReAK wrote:Halo 1 PC and Halo 1 Xbox via System Link have matchmaking, if you go by a dictionary defenition. A host creates a server (arranges a match), and other people join it. Matchmaking. Simple as that.
Or if you use something called context, you'd realize that Halo 2 is the only game by Bungie to feature matchmaking. The player can be a matchmaker in the games, but the only game to do matchmaking is Halo 2.

Agreed, a list of open games in progress would be nice.

Thats what public custom games are for. But they aren't going to be ranked. Which is good, cause you could boost from playing with friends as suicidal enemies.

No, custom games are only open to the players' friends lists. I was referring to a game list. For instance, when creating a game, you could set it to Public, Friends, or Private.

You said "That's what public custom games are for." I got the impression that that meant open custom games as were in Halo 2. The way it was worded made it sound like you were referring to something that already exists.
