[Tag] Troop Warthog - Vehicle Collection File

This is a vehicle collection file to spawn a turretless warthog, aka the 'troop' warthog permutation. The troop permutation was left in by Bungie, and is similar to the gauss permutation, except that there are no menu items in the gametype settings to spawn one, it has no turret
(No, you can't get into the back where the turret was), and it was never used in the final game.
This file spawns the warthog in the troop permutation just like how the warthog_guass.vehicle_collection file spawns it in the gauss permutation.
The troop hog differs from the regular warthog in that it obviously has no turret, and as it weighs less, goes slightly faster.
(Random Trivia: Gauss hog weighs the most and therefore is the slowest.)
This vehicle is really good for racing levels - it has no turret, so you can be sure an idiot won't use it to gun down others, and as I said, it goes a bit faster.
Instructions:
Put the
warthog_troop.vehicle_collection file inside your tags folder -> multiplayer -> single_vehicles.
Set the vehicle onto a level like you would any other vehicle, and use the warthog_troop file.
When you play the game, make sure to leave the primary (or secondary) light vehicle settings to Map Default. Otherwise it'll be overridden by any choices you set.
This was a really simple edit; all I did was modify the warthog_gauss.vehicle_collection file and change the permutation sid in the file from 'gauss' to 'troop' with a hex editor. The reason I'm posting this is because most people never seemed to know there was troop permutation.

Now just skin it and there you go, a civilian warthog.

I'll see what I can do.
Edit: Hows this for a skin? Its not done yet, as I need to texture the turret, and the wheels. I made it more like Halo 2 style, meaning that the paint on it is chipping off and it looks battle worn.

I know you didn't ask for my input, but I don't really think it could be considered a "troop" warthog, if no troops can be carried.

i'm not sure how h2 vista differs from h2 xbox, if at all, but could you not just null out the turrets vehi tag on the warthogs hlmt?

with the tools we have now for h2v, thats not possible. If someone would make a plugin for halo 2 editors (entity, dothalo, others) for H2V, that would be awesome!
Of course, someone would have to figure out the difference with Vista and Xbox coding. Thats going to be a tough one...

if you manage to get your hands on a copy of photoshop and the bitmap extractor(easier for converting bitmaps) then use the color replacement brush because it will keep all the scratches from the original and be perfectly colored (go for brighter color cuz green darkens the colors)

I'm sorry, but that is not worthy of being called a troop warthog.
The troop warthog has a different model, it dosen't go faster, and it can hold a total of 5 people.

You could do that, but then you aren't able to have chaingun/gauss hogs (depending on what you replace) at all on your map. With this, if someone decides they want to have chaingun or gauss hogs instead of troop hogs, they can go to the gametype settings and change it from "Map Default" to whatever they want.

Bungie called it the 'troop' warthog, so I'm calling it that. You can call it the incomplete troop hog, or just the turretless hog. Heck, you could even message
Frankie and complain to him about it being named that. Definitely be an odd thing to see in a bungie.net weekly update

Do not upload content from the game. You may upload patch files, but not textures.

Lmao and make them all different colors so when you back away or move towards the hog, it magically changes colors.

Thats funny, you are funny. I like you mr. funny man.
also, that is not a troop hog, I don't care what you say. If ANYTHING, its just a green variant of the civilian hog as seen in the ad in the E3 demo. But troop? No. Needs moar carriage.
