No One Mods ?
Hmm well i made a modded map for halo 2 vista but i got like 2 replys and only around 40 downloads. Is halo 2 vista modding dead i havnt seen hardly any mods released for it. Some people say there's not the right programs at the moment but ive seen people get very creative with mr.mohawk and if you put your mind to it there's lots of possible kl stuff you can do. Well anyway i would like to make some sort of mappack for vista not something crappy a really gd one for all maps so if anyone would like to team up with me make a h2 vista modding clan even i don't no send me a message or reply here, but you have to have some experience.

I wanna mod H2V like I can do with H2X. I just want someone to make Insolence and Entity compatible with vista maps, so I can create MPC maps.
but for now I'll just wait...wait for...Gravemind

he might as well release it, cause H2V is dead.ares-erus wrote:if kornman00s radio tool was released im sure there would be ALOT of new maps released purely because of all the tags in SP and MP could be extracted and then used in custom maps.
The modding community can bring life back into H2V.

I hope to god that h2v is never moddable like h2X is. If anyone could break a MP map/modify and resign that would ruin the game. The reason for that is a very simple answer. ANYONE CAN DO IT. Much on halo 2 V is moddable but not to anyone because programming is involved. Something i'm trying to learn actually.
And the answer to the person that questioned my first comment will be another answer. How long did it take you to learn/hack that map? And for what purpose did you modify it? Only reason i don't like it is because i see halo 2 Vista being a wide open slutte like halo 1 pc is.
Sorry if i tick anyone off. Had to be said.
OH p.s. have any of you tried making a new map? Much funner.

So basically, you want it to be exclusive to those who know how to program and can break through the barriers stopping just anyone from modding it? Sure anyone could do that.. after maybe a long time of learning code. Halo modding shouldn't pertain to a group of elitist programmers who don't want just anyone enjoying the various areas of modding. It should be available to anyone.johnnyblaz20 wrote:I hope to god that h2v is never moddable like h2X is. If anyone could break a MP map/modify and resign that would ruin the game. Modding in itself takes a while to learn. Once you get the hang of it it's a breeze, yet there's still a lot of subjects that not just anyone can learn, still.
Let's look at Halo 2 Xbox.. There's a few things new modders can do like dependency swaps, lame skins, shader swaps, etc. But there's the mods experienced people can do, such as scripting.
It's also the same case with Halo PC. There's the easy mods, and the hard mods that require time and effort.. Custom BSPs, scripted AI, custom weapons and scenery, etc.
The only reason I can think of that anyone would want Halo 2 Vista to be programmer exclusive is so they can get more public recognition; to be one of the few 'awesome, 1337' people (a problem through the Halo modding community).
But that's just me. I personally would love to mod Halo 2 Vista, but I'm not going to go and learn how to program to mod it. I wouldn't mind learning some code to do it (as I've done in the past with other games), but if I have to learn to program, I'd automatically loose interest. I've tried learning before, and it was boring; I couldn't keep focused on it.
Information should be shared, not showcased.
Agreed.JK-47 wrote:Information should be shared, not showcased.
Also, I got Halo 2 Vista a couple of days before it was officially out. I bought it thinking, I'm going to mod so much of the game. Turns out it wouldn't work on my computer, so I returned it. If it did work, however, I would be modding/mapping regularly for Halo 2 Vista.
MM = Matchmaking
If you guys haven't realized, MM.. If they would have made the game into seperate "games" like halo pc.
Halo 2 Vista: SP AND MP
Halo 2 Vista Custom Edition: Multiplayer + Custom Content (Unlocked Everything)...
MM Fucks everything over.
And not sharing the knowledge is for MM's sake. Just think about what it would be like if EVERYONE that had there hands on these tools could do?...
Think guys, THINK.

I'm currently under the same situation.. I may not be very much longer, though.Andrew_b wrote: Also, I got Halo 2 Vista a couple of days before it was officially out. I'm aware of this issue, and I know there's people working on it and have some theories... at least they were working on it. I'm not 100% on that. Currently, SP modding is completely available, though. That's something we could still mod. My post was merely a rebuttal to jonnyblaz20.T1xAnton wrote:MM = Matchmaking

JK-47. I"m only against MP modding. In a perfect world yes everyone should be able to do anything. Hell i'd like to fly. But there is one plain and simple truth. Not everyone cares. If everyone could mod 3/4 of the players would be speed hacking and have aimbots. Would you like that? What you guys are doing here is great but not spectacular. Oh and if MP maps are breakable like this the speed values could be changed. BAD. Projectiles could be swapped in MP. BAD and on live that would be chaos. There are hacks around for everyone to use like the BLU trainer, and that was thought out a bit. no use in MP.
Also I didn't mean only programmers should be able to mod i merely ment MP modding is bad in general. And that everyone not being able to do so is a good thing. And the programming that has came out so far has only been helpful. aka. vicky's server too. Soon to have hopefully autoban for hackers. This is why i pointed out making your own maps. you can modify weapons and crap and put them in your map for everyone to use. Not a 1 person advantage.
Plus i'm not learning to program for modding. i'm learning it to learn.
Mark my words. shortly after Gravemind what's left of the H2V community will crumble.
And whats up Jackson. lol

Just like the secret of the atom bomb? plus... Who's showcasing and not sharing?JK-47 wrote:Information should be shared, not showcased.

you could quite easily get all the details to the atom bomb just because you've got the info dosnt mean you can implement it.johnnyblaz20 wrote: Just like the secret of the atom bomb? plus... Who's showcasing and not sharing?

and for your information there are already "modders" on the halo 2 vista scene with auto aiming hacks and such but if modding was made more avalable im sure a hack for servers could be used to locate if someone is using a autoaim bot and be booted+black listed.
there was such a hack a few years ago for CE.
