help with h2vista edit lite

ok, when i view maps the meta is all screwed up. but then i viewed the meta in single_player_shared.map and it wasn't screwed up. So I extracted a grunt meta, went to the offset for the marine meta in the map file with a hex editor, and pasted the grunt meta over the marine meta and nulled out the "other" bytes, since the marine meta was larger, with bytes of 00. i did this because injecting meta doesn't work yet. when i went ingame, nothing happened. help?
