First map? looks like a basic tutorial map. i dont think anyone will dl this map. not to be mean. but you need to go through some more tutorials and learn how to model better. i'll show the map i'm working on tomarrow. if you need help or have any problems you can pm me though.
i'm not trying to flame just being honest.

Congratulations. Neither did you.johnnyblaz20 wrote:THAT MADE NO SENCE
As for the map, it's very basic and just uses a tessellated box with a displacement map to create the 'valley' type effect.
Try learning to model properly, and not just extrude the ground. Also, just because its your second map, doesn't mean you should post it. Wait for you to have a great map idea, then post that one. Not some map that could take 5 minutes to make.

#1 what did i say that made no sence? please point it out.
#2 you just told him basicly what i did but you were more harsh, come on its his 2nd map, ofcorse he shoudlnt post it. but on the other hand if he shows pics of it people can give him opinions on what he needs to work on. right now he needs to work on modeling all around but encourage dont discourage.
i know i'm still a noob but here are some pics of a map i've been working on...
still way in the beta version but i think it'll be good after i put more detail into it.

Tbh it is horrible. Please, do not use the heightmap/extrusion method. Not only were you too lazy to fix the boxy cliffs, but you wasted so many polygons with such bad results. Yet, that is about as much as that method can yield. I suggest looking up plane modeling tutorials, and using editable poly. Don't be lazy, as most of the geometry in bsp is created by you, and not by an automated process (such as extrusions or heightmaps). It may seem like a cumbersome task at first, but it begins to become fun, and you enjoy doing it. So, stick with it, and try to find some good tutorials.

Well, for one, it's Sense, and you were saying kiwidoggie made no sense, when really he did, just with a horribly constructed sentance.johnnyblaz20 wrote:#1 what did i say that made no sence? please point it out.
I wasn't being discouraging, I was telling the truth. And in noway was it a harsh comment, I was telling him what he did, and what he should do in the future.johnnyblaz20 wrote:#2 you just told him basicly what i did but you were more harsh, come on its his 2nd map, ofcorse he shoudlnt post it. but on the other hand if he shows pics of it people can give him opinions on what he needs to work on. right now he needs to work on modeling all around but encourage dont discourage.
