game crashing after i bought more ram?

so.. the problem is that i used to have 768mb of ram, and h2v didnt crash, but i had to wait about a minute after level loading before i were able to play because of the lag caused by the need of reading swap memory from the HDD.
but now i bought more ram to get the game run better, so now i have 1536 (1024+512) mb of ram, and after a little bit of playing the game crashes, as vista says that some problem occuired with halo2 vista

anyone else have/had this problem?
and i havent activated my h2v yet as i knew i was going to upgrade my hardware

what i have tried:
-disable sound
-try with different graphics settings
-running the game on a different priority
-tried disabling my second monitor

and what i have found out, it takes longer to crash if i set halo2 to run on lowest priority and use default graphics settings, i can play almost 5 minutes before crash, and at worst, highest priority with maximum graphics settings and resolution of 1600x1200 (wich i use on windows and on other games as default resolution), i can play maybe up to 1 minute

and the hardware i have:
Processor:
AMD Sempron 3100+
Memory:
1536MB (1024mb+512mb)
Motherboard:
Asus K8N-VM
Hard Drive:
343GB (200GB + 61.5GB + 61.5GB + 20GB)
Video Card:
Nvidia GeForce 7900 GTX
Monitor:
LG 901B & Panasonic panasync E70i (Dual monitors, total resolution = 2880x1200)
Sound Card:
SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio
Operating System:
Windows Vista Ultimate

and my toughts about the crash:
it seems that vista thinks that a program occuired an error if it continiously uses 100% of CPU and uses much of ram.. and why i think this is true; because i tried to run a calculating application that uses much of ram and 100% of cpe while calculating, i found out that it did the same crash aswell, after certain time of calculating
if some ppl would be so nice that they test if the application crashes while after a certain time of calculating.. the app is called Super PI and it counts decimals of PI up to maximum of 32 million.. and i can calculate up to 8 million with no crashes, but 16 and 32 million i get crashes..

edit:
ok wtf is wrong with the poll system?!
i submitted my post with polls correctly, and the poll appeared, then i noticed a typo and fixed it and then the poll were gone, so i made the poll again, and now it duplicated the options, and now sometimes it dont show them at all, and at sometimes it shows the duplicate options?! :? :?: :?

Yeah, having uneven amounts of RAM usually causes problems. I would suggest getting another 1GB stick of RAM to even it out. At least, that's what's I've heard/experienced.

Indeed. If you can, especially with Vista Ultimate and a gaming pc such as yours. If your motherboard can handle maybe 2 1 gig sticks or 3-4 512 meg sticks, it should work fine. Also, before even trying to even out your ram stick amounts, have you checked if your bios has recognized and installed the ram properly?

Vista already takes up 1 GB of RAM, and Halo 2 for Vista (on the box) says that it needs at least 1 GB of RAM, which would be the standard settings.

The main memory users are:

2x Anti-Alising
and the Resoultion, which is 1024 x 784 (check me on this, I may be wrong)

I reduced my lag, for Campain anyway, but turning off Anti-Alising and by lowering the Resoultion. The game didn't really look that pretty after, but it worked.

I have had troubles in the pass where my motherboard could only detect RAM "sticks" of certain sizes. The ones that weren't of those specific sizes were not detected right and caused frequent problems like lots of blue screens of death. Check your mb manual and see if that is the problem.

get two sticks of ram to equal 2GB of ram on a dual channel DDR2 and make sure it is the cool set like whatever the ram stick is made of that makes it run cooler.

i also had tried only 1GB of ram (forgot to tell on first post, sorry)

and i figured out the problem!

i had to stop the Service named "RelevantKnowledge" from strating when i boot, and now i can set high settings and 1600x1200 and the game runs smoothly at 45 FPS and the loading times between maps; the 'light' goes only to the half way! :P

in case someone else have this crash problem and havent tried to disable relevantknowledge, heres how to:

1. 'windows key' + 'R' OR start -> 'run...'
2. type 'msconfig' in the box and click 'ok'
3. go to 'Services' tab
4. check the 'Hide all Microsoft services' checkbox
5. uncheck 'RelevantKnowledge'
6. click 'ok'
7. reboot, no matter when, before starting halo2

and also, if there remains other services than just 'RelevantKnowledge' after checking the 'Hide all Microsoft services' checkbox, try disabling them aswell if disabling only relevant knowledge dont help

hope this helps some ppl :P

edit:
in case someone wants to see how it looks like to have 2 screens, here
