What versions of 3DS Max does the .ass exporter that came with the map editor work for? I get an error on 3DS Max 9.

Using .Ass Exporter

.ass Exporter is a plug-in for 3ds Max. To use it, you must have 3ds Max installed on your computer and updated with the latest service pack available.

For information about 3ds Max installation and updating, visit the Autodesk website at http://www.autodesk.com/.

After installing 3ds Max, copy the BungieMaxExporter6.dll file to your 3ds Max plug-ins directory (the default installation directory is C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3dsMax8\plugins\).

Note: 3ds Max should be closed when you copy the .dll file. If it's open, exit the program and then restart it.

The plug-in works with 3ds Max 6.x, 7.x, and 8.x.

In my max exporter folder I only have BungieMaxExporter7.dle. And when I put it in my plugins folder I get an error when starting 3DS Max 9 saying that that plugin failed to initialize.

The obvious 7 at the end of the plug-in name should obviously give it away as the exporter for 3ds Max 7.

Thats retarded. Why would they make it for a older version of 3DS Max instead of the newest one or at least make multiple versions?

Well technically they have been working on this before 3ds max 9 came out and if they did release a exporter. We would have to wait longer. Check h2vista.net for new on exporters

True. Yea I went there and TheGhost said he was going to make a script for 9 like 2 weeks ago and I responded asking if there was any progress on it and I'm waiting for a response.

Autodesk released a patch for Windows Vista, and I'm not sure if that will help you, but there's my 2 cents.

What kind of patch?

Um..idk. It said it was released to address a certain problem with Vista. Not sure what the problem is, but you may want to get it to properly export maps.

The plugin that came in the exporter folder currently works for 3DS Max 6, 7 and 8. They made it for those, because that's the version the used for the game most likely, and it makes sense to develop plugins for programs you currently have.
