i can open the halo 2 map editor launcher, but when i click on H2Sapien, H2Guerilla, or Compile Level, it says "(program name) has stopped working" and give me the option to report to microsoft and close it, or just close it. i cannot edit any part of any level because of this, or make my own, obviously.

anyone have any clue what's wrong?

EDIT: oh, i bought it at Circuit City 5/20/07, it's not a iso or anything

i strongly doubt this is a halo 2 problem itself, it seems more of a vista problem.

let me rephrase:
to anyone with vista, if you have seen a similar error message in any program you've run, tell me how you fixed it

I've only tried the map editor on Windows XP and it worked fine. I'll install it in Vista when I get a chance to see if it does something similar. In the mean time, maybe try reinstalling it.

Return the disc and wait until they release it (they delayed/recalled it again due to faulty discs, as you may have discovered).

@gtavc - i tried reinstalling h2v, the map editor, and vista itself, no luck
@gir - interesting. i'll try doing that on may 31 or after, since that's now the official release date of it

i got the same problem with my game (actually borrowed it from a friend that has it), tried it in XP but it doesn't work, go to CC and report it as a faulty product (hear they're doing a recall anyways) the new release date has been rumored to be july 4th

Possible explanations so far:
errors with tray and play
ingame nudity
something's up with the windows live services
it's not crysis or shadowrun
it's not worth your money

RAM is not hard drive space.

I can tell from that post you are not very computer knowledgeable, so I'll explain what RAM is.

RAM:
Stands for Random Access Memory.
It it used to process computations and hold the computer together. It is also considered "Volatile" and looses all processed data once the computer is turned off.

About your Video Card problem. It's because you have the default chip set that comes with the computer. Few games can run off those well.
