Accounts on H2v

Post by Jdogg »

On h2v, are the accounds going to be, like register on the web site and get an account, or are we going to have to pay for one.

Just a question.

It will use the Live system. You can have a free account and play some games (Which would be Custom Games, I believe - Probably have a list of games going on, much like HPC/CE, but I'm not 100% on how the free games will work), but to use the Matchmaking system, you need a Live Gold account, which costs $50 per year.

It will use the same accounts as Xbox Live, except for the difference that you can play online with Silver - but not in matchmaking, and a few tiny random things.

man, i bet they are going to have free2play, but it is going to jip you and be really cheep and basically force you to buy an accound. I was hopeing that i didnt have to pay for an accound. Oh well..

...You don't have to pay...

You'll still be free to play user-games, but you won't be able to use matchmaking. There wasn't even matchmaking in HPC/CE, so there isn't a whole lot of change in that respect.

I'm going to pay for the account. My friends used to pay $5 a month for Runescape, and my sister pays about the same for Club Penguin. When you do the math you only have to pay a little less than $5 a month, and I make about $35 a month, so I'm paying for it. I definitely want to be able to use matchmaking and almost have "Live" account.

first of all, RS is by far the gayest game ever to be made, its like a flash game with internet access. But that is my opinion.

Anyway, i bet there is going to be some kind of link between XBL accounds the the h2v accounts. Because when you log into xbox live on halo 2 doesnt it link you to bungie.net or microsoft.com or something. That must be how it is possible to check your levels on bungie.net

So that is what i think, after reading all of the comments

Hey, it's my freakin allowance... I'm not old enough to get a job yet. Once I am I'll probably work at my local Best Buy. Maybe on the Geek squad or something... :P

And you only have to pay for the first year!? I doubt it. But if it's true then that's awesome!!
Yes I know, I quit RS. I gave my account to my other nerdy friends.

And Bungie officialy stated that if you already pay for a live gold account, you can play H2V using your existing account.

I have an Xbox Live Gold currently on my 360, So will I be able to play Games For Windows Live (such as h2v) with that exact name? And I'm guessing if that works then obviously the Achievements get added to each as well. Just want to clarify this :?

Correct. Xbox Live accounts will work on Windows Live games.

It's not just a 'connection' between them - they are the same account! You will use the same account for Xbox Live as you do with Games for Windows (like Shadowrun and H2Vista).

So if you buy Halo 2 vista now, and sign up for a gold account paying $50/year, and later get a 360, you can recover the account to your 360 and use it to play online on both (not at the same time though :P ).

Let me sum this all up so all of you can understand. Xbox Live works on a large scale LAN [Local Area Network] Network (the entire internet of games). With Xbox Live, you are entitled to be linked to Windows Live. Windows Live and Xbox Live are the same. Just for different bios's. They both are linked together (notice you need a live account to use XBLive? (someone@hotmail.com) So basically you will need a Xbox Live Gold Account which is $50.00 (100 pounds) every year. This allows for customs and matchmaking. Silver accounts are only free games like custom games. You have to have an Xbox Live Account to play HALO 2 Vista. It is not an optional thing. This allows your stats to be linked and shown on Bungie.NET and Microsoft's Xbox site. Halo 2 Vista can on;ly work on Vista (hence the name).

Really? Wow, I had no idea. I thought it was just a promotional thing. It's a good thing you posted that.

gnomey the "large scale lan" you are talking about is not called a large scale lan....it's called a wan....wide area network., that is all the internet is though, a GAN, global area network.

And oh thanks for not telling me what a matchmaking service is, it's i just dont have an Xbox so i wouldnt freakin know GIR

also I dont care if i have vista or not im buying it this week, then next week or in the next two weeks im buying all my updates! new dual core 64bit support processor a 300GB hard drive and vista.
