Custom maps... Good or bad?

Post by LinkGray »

What if custom maps are bad? What if they are uncreative or messed up?

What if you want to play the normal lockout, but instead end up playing some messed up lockout with weapon spawn points all messed up and stuff like that, and with a giant soccorball in the middle?

Hopefully, there will be a way to turn off custom maps...

It's like modded maps on internet in halo pc. Dumb. I want to play a normal map, not some map where the pistol shoots out rockets.

Custom maps will always be good. And if someone pulls up a custom map that actually happens to be a modified lockout, then it will show up as a different map, and you don't have to play it.

Also, you should note that modified maps will be downloaded as a different map, so everyone will have the same "powers" of auto aim and rockety goodness.

When you acquire any new maps they wont modify any of the retails maps, and hopefully modding of the retail maps will render them in-playable.. (like HaloCE)

There will be great ones, and there will be awful ones...it's just how things go with any sort of game that allows user created content.

it seems pretty cool to me, custom map editor sounds really fun.
I have been modding xbox for so long, im kinda burnt out on it,

anyone else feel the same way. Modding the xbox was like the funnest thing ever when i first started, and for the next year, But now its dead to me and this is what is going to make me want to mod again. Custom maps and modding the originals. haha (If it is possible, and i hope it is so you can mod people and get a really high level)

in other words it works like steam aaw yeah i like that. Just imagine how much space you will need though lol, you almost need a separate 20GB hard drive for maps and call it the M drive.

And gnomey if all you did was come here to flame GTFO

Lol@the post above me. Lol, custom maps will always be good. The thing is, if you make a server, anyone who joins it will be shown the same map you have, even if they'res is different. So if you join a server with lockout and it's screwed up, so what, leave the server. Join a regular one. Besides, I don't think someone would make a custom map, even just modifying an old one, and compile it with the original name. That would just be kind of screwed up.
