We have also put up a local downloadable copy of the original WMV stream. The trailer shows off two the new maps, District and Uplift, as well as some features in the much anticipated map editor. Even for being a low quality video, the graphical improvements made are clear and will hopefully put any doubts to rest. There is, however, no release date on the trailer, which is a shame given the recent hysteria revolving around its "new" release date on several websites.

I really wish people would stop calling it the map editor. It's Sapien, come on guys...

Which is a map editor.

BSP != Map

A map is everything contained within the map file. It is not simply the BSP. You can edit the maps with Sapien, making it a map editor.

Well, why you're all being so technical, Sapien is actually a scenario editor. The scenario gets compiled with the BSP to create a map using Tool.

So let's just drop the semantics and let's all be friends. :)

I wonder if we still have to use 3ds Max to model, they didn't say... yet. We'll see soon enough I guess.

Let me correct this post (seeing as how you contradicted yourself in the process of trying to correct someone).

Sapien is a scenario editor using various dialogs and a realtime 3d view of the scenario like it would be in game. It edits the contents found in a scenario (ie world objects, cinematics, structure bsps, etc).

You can't edit cache ("map") files with Sapien.

Don't forget Sapiens older brothers, Tool and Guerilla :wink:

Which is a part of the map file. It is contained inside the map file, which is the point I was making. The scenario is not an external file from the .map file.

unfortunatly no. H2Vista users get two new better maps, District and Uplift. these maps are huge and totally new, and look like a blast to play on. and we get stuck with H1 rehashes. which i'm not complaining, the XB maps are pretty good, but i'd rather have the H2Vista maps on my Xbox.

Sapien

God, you guys are both right, so obviously u cant edit the actual map files, but you can edit the scenario. So what's the point of gettin' all huffy-puffy over it?
