A wired xbox 360 controller is compatable with windows - plug it in, and windows will automatically download its software from the internet and help you install it.

Currently you can NOT use a wireless controller with a computer - BUT THAT IS GOING TO CHANGE - somewhere I saw M$ anounced a USB device that connects to your computer and lets you use wireless controllers on the computer.

They already released it, my friend has one. Only when he connected it there was a wire going from his controller to the computer, but his controller was wireless, i think he plugged it in through the bottom part of the controller where you put your headset....

Anyways, are they making a newer version of it or something?

I have a regular xbox controller that I wired myself(just swap the end for a usb plug). I frankly do not find it useful for playing halo(on PC) at all. On an xbox halo you have autoaiming that compensates for the fact that you're using a joystick. On PC halo, there is none.
