DX10?

Its confirmed. For thoose who dont know, you WILL NOT need to get a DX10 graphics card. Halo 2 PC will be infact DX9
Other than Vista's touted advantages for gamers (and its enormous technical requirements), we care about a delay because certain games may not release, run, or run "optimally" with anything less than Vista, including Halo 2 for the PC, MS Flight Simulator X, and CryTek's Crysis ("the first DirectX 10-enabled game" for the new OS).

I looked at your quote and I looked on the website. I didn't see "DX 8 enabled" anywhere. All I saw was ("the first DirectX 10-enabled game" for the new OS)

Sorry if this puts down your post.

Also even if it isn't DX 10 why would they downgrade to DX8? why not DX9?

WTf? Why are you talking about DX8? I didnt say anything about it. It says Crytek is making first DX10 game and that means Halo2 will be DX9... Where the hell did DX8 come from?

My first theory about Directx 10 was actually right... Directx 10 is gonna be supplied with Windows Vista. You don't have to have a directx 10 based video card to play Halo 2 PC because either ATI or Nvidia would have said something by now about newer directx based cards. in order for Nvidia and ATI to be able to make directx 10 based video cards they have to have directx 10 in some way shape or form... obviously since Vista isn't released directx 10 cannot be obtained by either company for newer cards. usually after about a month you would see a directx SDK get released and thats what I think Nvidia and ATI work off of in order to make their video cards. So according to this THEORY (not fact) Halo 2 PC shouldn't require Directx 10 video cards. It'll probably require Directx 9 or possibly Directx 8 with lower settings on. I'd say also that a few months after Vista is released the better video cards will start rolling out from the companies again :).

This is just a theory so please don't put it down.

well really the gap between dx 8 and dx 9 isnt that big so i spose it would be a big deal if it was dx9 cos a>almost everyone has a system that supports dx9 and b>the changes arent that major

the gap between dx9 and 10 however is alot larger. so yeah i doubt halo 2 would be dx10, cos there would be loads of reworking and everyone would need new cards that arent in existance yet and wont be for some time.
