No One Mods ?
Why do you need modding tools guys? Theres a fucking Editing Kit. Just unlock the Editing kit and have it allow creation of vehicles, weapons, animations, and bipeds and you will see a HUGE boost in the community, I will guarantee that.
Theres no point in modding tools in H2vista... Especially when you can literally create your own content. :\
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if h2x had the HEK and it wasn't locked. Would we have entity etc? no...

I was responding to someone saying i was wrong for being against MP modding. or something. But he was saying everything should be moddable by anyone.ares-erus wrote: you could quite easily get all the details to the atom bomb just because you've got the info dosnt mean you can implement it.
and for your information there are already "modders" on the halo 2 vista scene with auto aiming hacks and such but if modding was made more avalable im sure a hack for servers could be used to locate if someone is using a autoaim bot and be booted+black listed.
there was such a hack a few years ago for CE.
I laugh at this post, This isn't Halo CE nor will it ever be. Stop comparing. A hack to find Auto Aim etc? Are you kidding me, if that was so easy, why did Bungie have such a hard time with H2x XBL..johnnyblaz20 wrote:ares-erus wrote: you could quite easily get all the details to the atom bomb just because you've got the info dosnt mean you can implement it.

It's not as easy to block the cheating as it is to "help create it"..

For MP, until there is a solution to mod it without actually hacking, then I agree it should not be modded. But that doesn't mean there can't be advancements for Singleplayer modding.johnnyblaz20 wrote:JK-47. I"m only against MP modding. In a perfect world yes everyone should be able to do anything. Hell i'd like to fly. But there is one plain and simple truth. Not everyone cares. If everyone could mod 3/4 of the players would be speed hacking and have aimbots. Would you like that? What you guys are doing here is great but not spectacular. Oh and if MP maps are breakable like this the speed values could be changed. BAD. Projectiles could be swapped in MP. BAD and on live that would be chaos. There are hacks around for everyone to use like the BLU trainer, and that was thought out a bit. no use in MP.
Also I didn't mean only programmers should be able to mod i merely ment MP modding is bad in general. And that everyone not being able to do so is a good thing. And the programming that has came out so far has only been helpful. aka. vicky's server too. Soon to have hopefully autoban for hackers. This is why i pointed out making your own maps. you can modify weapons and crap and put them in your map for everyone to use. Not a 1 person advantage.
Plus i'm not learning to program for modding. i'm learning it to learn.
I was speaking generally, not specifically. No one's showcasing right now, in your post it seemed like you just want to be one of the people who could showcase due to the fact that you don't want Halo 2 Vista modding to be public. And you can hardly compare Halo 2 Vista with the atom bomb.johnnyblaz20 wrote:Just like the secret of the atom bomb? plus... Mark my words. shortly after Gravemind what's left of the H2V community will crumble.
I think a lot of people are waiting on Gravemind. I can hardly see why it would crumble.
Halo Xbox, Halo PC, and H2X flourished when modding tools were released. Halo PC modding was insane when it was in it's prime. If your topic stayed up without being bumped down by other mods at the end of the day, you would be extremely lucky. Yet, like Halo 2 Xbox, it kind of died down once a majority of available things were found out, and people lost interest. Halo PC modding is somewhat alive again, while Halo 2 Xbox is pretty much dead (with the exception of the few who still enjoy to make awesome mods for it).
This may be the case for Halo 2 Vista.. All I can say is, once there's a program that lets me get down to serious modding, I'm going out and getting Halo 2 Vista.
This isn't halo pc, halo pc didn't have MM. Halo pc tools flourished because it was a separate game that had NO HEK so it offered a different feel to the game when people were getting bored. Same with H2x, and Halo xbox.. How do you not understand this.JK-47 wrote:For MP, until there is a solution to mod it without actually hacking, then I agree it should not be modded. This game has a content creation tool already, THE H2EK.
Just modify it to allow more custom content creation. Make tools that would simplify the current method! Just think of what could be done! Look at Halo CE!
I'm sorry if I'm coming off as a dick, I may be explaining this all wrong.
Halo PC/CE had Servers that were created by users or Dedi's. They contained whatever there servers allowed for them to contain. There ban tools were alot more powerful due to hacking of the Dedi's etc. H2v will become more popular when the HEK is unlocked and only when the HEK is unlocked.
___
In fact, if the H2EK were to be unlocked, Auto Aim would be easy to achieve via Weapon Tag creation. (magnetism angle, etc)
But only for the map it was put in. (The said Tag)

I guess... I respect that.
I really don't mean to sound like a dick, I really don't. I'm sorry if I have.
It's just that the discussion of further tools which would only complicate things kind of irritates me, because I know the HEK fairly decent and it's by far the easiest tool ever invented, IMO..
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. So have fun I guess.

The only thing i'm trying to say is. These tools you guys want to modify a MP map pretty much make a very complicated thing so simple a child could do it. What's the challenge in that? There is no glory there. I try to make things people will respect me for. Now if i change some offsets and make a pistol shoot out a rocket or make MC's face look like his arse it would be funny but for what purpose? Personal gain? respect? not really. Maybe a sense of undeserved achievement. I really don't care. The thing i do care about is the destruction of a game i love to play. I seen h1 get overrun by cheaters and i don't want to see the same thing happen with this game. Again i'm talking about MP here.
I don't care about SP just leave MP maps alone. I'll give you guys some bsp's to work with and you can modify anything you want and create the rest of the map. Any H1 or H2 bsp you want.

Cheats in Halo 1 aren't made via modding.
As I said, anyone can make a horrible mod, but it takes certain people to make great mods. I don't think it's very fair to restrict everyone from learning how to make great mods.
I can see what you're saying.. there would definitely be more respect for those who mod if they did it themselves without any applications. But the fact of the matter is, that's really not the best way to go around things. As I said before, it's best to share information rather than showcase it. It goes along just fine in other communities, we have no reason to not do the same.

projectile swapping isn't via modding? i know better. I'm not trying to argue but i just disagree. Our opinions differ. I'll just keep it at that.
One more thing though. Those applications are made by a programmer that did do all the work for you. How they build the program is how you could modify a map. But i never said anyone should showcase info. If it'll ruin a game they should just not act on the info. I just hope maps modifyed by gravemind do not show up as the original. I'm dropping this.
Didn't mean to offend anyone i just feel real strongly against cheaters. And yes. you can mod a map to cheat. U can change the biped speed of your player. Yes that is possible. You can also turn the autoaim on all the time. yes that's possible. once the tools are available it'll be possible for all of you.
