Windows LIVE error

Post by jackson117 »

don't worry about the other two topics about this which are mine plz delete or lock them.

anyway everytime i manually install the LIVE patch so i can sign up it says would you like to update [i already have the update} so i let it go down to the end of the bar for the download bar and nothing happens.

is it another patch or the same one????????

plus i can't automactily download the patch since it won't let me and im using dial-up

I might be wrong but having dial-up should have nothing to do with downloading a patch automaticly. It is probably something else.. But if you install the patches manually it should work.

Did you download and install both of the patches? not just the live but the game patch?

Did you turn off your UAC?

You dont need UAC off ... when my auto update started it got to the end of the bar i waited like 7 min and then it finished b/c it was configuring the update then theres a second live update for it . there are 2 updates and they dont install 1both them at once they install each oe separate ... I just reinstalled mine to check and as for in another topic i saw your network and xbox live were greyed out... it means you havnt activated halo 2... i found out that too i had the same problem

I prefer having a cigar and a waffle :P ...anyway being you have dial-up, could it possibly be timing out when it tries connecting? I'm just throwing this out there, not sure if it is practical or not.

That may be true. How do you get images to show up on the bottom every time?

yes the same thing happens gets to the end of the download bar nothing happens after a while. another problem also happens with the orange box with the STEAM updater it gets to 30 % and nothing happens only to go back to 0%.

trust me my UAC is off, the fire wall is too and thats all. plus i have a firewall protecter that always lets programs through

okay 1. steam updates normally go up and then down to zero and then you wait and they go back up and may do it a kouple of times ...

Here what your going to do if you want a chance of this working seeing as none of us can really help you anymore because we have no idea. (Seeing as most of us never got this error)

1. Unistall Halo 2
2. make a back up of your saves and delete the entire halo 2 folder
3. after checking to see if all of your halo 2 iles are gone . Reinstall halo
4. when you go to open halo 2 Register and Activate it AGAIN!!! (this is a must (if it wont let you register ..reactivate it atleast.
5. after activating it . Start H2 then sign in to LIVE and even if it takes you six days sit there and let it auto update . I know dial up users can use auto up date but its slow you wait through both updates even if it takes you a year okay :P lol
Then after both updates are done restart the game and check everything

If this dose not work there is either something wrong with your computer / Game / Internet .

I'm not saying you are but if this happens to be one of those downloaded for free copies of H2 .... this is your problem so go buy the real game... I know people who have done this and they have similar problems.
--I am not talking about actually doing this or helping him do such a thing so dont flame me---
This is all i can tell you if you are good to go on everything up here and it still dosent work your calling the techsupport at Bungie :P Have a nice day

There is one update you want to manually download first and install after you reinstall the game but before you start it up. Its the actual game update at http://www.microsoft.com/games/halo2/ if you are into custom maps. That update changes some files so it all works correctly. For some reason the 2nd update does not have everything in it from the first update. "As far as i could tell".
