Extracting Sounds?

I was looking around at the status of Halo 2 Vista modification and would like to know if it is possible to extract the sounds from the .map files in Halo 2 Vista. I know a few sites have tried recording the sounds from gameplay but you always end up with background music and effects getting in the way, so I'd love to have access to all those sounds. (I realize the music system makes trying to extract usable music basically pointless.) Is there a program floating around that will let me get at them?
