640x480 resolution????
Look, I don't give any care at all to great graphics. All I want is smooth speed, and thats it. With halo 1 pc, I disabled particles, decals, specular, shadows, I set my video to vsync, and switched my resolution to 640x480 because now it's SOOO fast! But halo 2 Vista doesn't support 640x480 resolution and screen resolution makes a huge difference in my speed. My pc is a laptop, and I'm not going to spend $600 on one of those external USB graphics cards. Is there maybe an application out there that is free and manages and locks a specific screen resolution to 3D games? Maybe a memory hack? If not, is there any other way?

You shouldn't even use any type of computer or laptop that only runs smoothly at that small a resolution....

I wanted an answer, not an opinion. It's the best pc in my house. I doubt my 7-year-old dell running xp with an un-removable trojan and so many spywares I count count them all would even support Halo 2 vista.

Seeing how Vista doesn't support 640x480 resolution, they have that just like in Halo 2Vista.

well dude, you atleast need a gig of ram, a decent processor, and "not or' an x700 radeon or higher "i dont know nvidia" to run halo2vista, if your computer dosent meet the specs theres no reason to buy the game. if you were having trouble playing halo1 on your computer halo 2 is out of the question... so for your answer if your computer is upgradable do it or buy a new computer that meeds specs.. upgrade ram, processor, and or video card to run it.
My H2V DevTrainer supports running Halo 2 at any resolution...
but I'm afraid I can't tell you when i will release it because I've just started Uni...
EDIT: Oh, but in the meantime, I just saw this

thats an extremely simple thing to do,
(note: i found this on some website cant remember where now)
step1: go to the video settings in halo2 and change it to windowed
step2: right click the halo 2.exe or w/e its called and go to the compatibility tab, and check 640x480 check box. there your done youve got 640x480 in h2 vista have fun.
EDIT: ha ha, it was this website , the link paulaus wrote is what i used, it does make a vast diffrence, i can now play on near "xbox" speeds, if you will.
