Problems with LIVE

Post by Budders13 »

Yo if anyone who has Vista can give me any tips on then that would be great. I've made a live account and sign into it on Vista, but i can't connect to any games on the internet and I also keep losing connection to LIVE. What's up with this and how can I fix it?

Still Don't Work for me

Post by vikramjay »

I tried the download and it installed properly. When I opened H2 again and tried to connect to LIVE, it gave me the same error message...

[The profile could not be signed into LIVE. There may be a network problem or the Windows LIVE ID service may not be available.]

I've tried calling Microsoft support, looked at many many sites for help, and still nothing. I even opened up ports through my ISP. Anyone with answers?

it's not signing into LIVE that's my problem, that works fine and all for me. The problem is joining servers and making my own. Everytime I make a server i get disconnected within 5 minutes, and whenever I try to join a server, it says matchmaking timed out.

ok check 2 things....

1. check your firewall and make sure that its not being blocked. (Check your software firewall, and your hardware firewall)

2. Check your bandwidth from your internet provider. you might be lagging out. (remember that a PC generally needs more bandwidth then a xbox does for online games)

When you run programs that connect to the net Windows asks you if it should continue to block it with the fire wall or allow it to properly connect. Sometimes though you must minimize the game to seee this window.

also some hardware firewalls block games... like your router and even some modems (like the ones SBC/ATT use)

i was having the same problem.. my actual problem was i upgraded to vista over xp. i reinstalled vista on a clean partition and my problem was fixed.. alot of work for some people like me cuz i like my computer to be set up a certain way but it was worth it for more reasons that 1. and firewalls. naa, if you allowed the halo connection witch who in their right mind wouldnt it'll work, routers are my enemy though but forwarding is easy also but you shouldnt have to to play the game, just for running ded server. might not help you but just another solution for ya. btw 99% sure its your problem if you didnt install vista on a clean partition..

when the game is closed, right click on the .exe (or shortcut to it) for the game, and hit "Run as Administrator"... that usually skips the windows firewalls and crap

On the official forums, this is a hot topic. One guy called microsoft about this and they said that they confirm that the error is there. They dont know what it is, and the error "name" is just there so they can identify it.

i'm telling you, re-install vista and your problem will go away.... not a firewall problem..
