[MAP] Bomb Run

Post by tucker933 »

I present to you, Bomb Run, a heavily modded Blood Gulch mod for Halo PC.

Image

Bomb Run was originally started by myself about 6 months ago and abandoned, all which was modded at the time was the banshee (Carpet Bomber.)

Image

I later begun to pick up on the mod at the end of Fatality Island's release, and decided to try and enter it for DeadHamsters contest.

I started from scratch but copied my original bomber concept, the entire particle system was redone as well as a lot of effects.

Image

The reason for all of the particle system work was both necessary and for aesthetic purposes. The banshee for one created a lot of particles which lead to particle losses constantly.

Image

There was quite a bit of refining of the entire system, down the the smoke effects on the pelican, and sound effects from the damaged engines.

Image

All of the game play has been reinvented, every projectile has undergone an immense amount of tag work and well as enhanced lighting and other effects.

Image

New weapons, some completely reinvented beyond recognition.
The effects are stunning and the game play truly is like war, its that intense and immersive, yet, at the same time, balanced. This mod has undergone numerous play tests for bugs and fair play. I promise, you will be satisfied, oh, and Mr.Brightside, I fixed the shotgun for ya.

Image

There are a few new skins and, if you have not already noticed, new lightmaps, everything, and I mean everything is internalized in the map file, no need for separate bitmaps etc.

Still are not convinced, have a look at yesterdays play test, it may look a little dark so be sure to play it in full screen so you can see all the awesomeness

Taken from one of my testers on Xfire:

Please note, if you have a lower end computer, expect some FPS lag, I did the best I could for the lower end users with this particle system, but maybe if you can't play this, that's a hint to get a better computer

When you play this mod, please, PLEASE use the variant the game is meant to be played on, some weapons, such as the plasma pistol have been torn apart for use on other weapons.
Use the following variant:
CTF, maximum vehicles enabled, and normal weapons on map. The rest is up to you.

-------------------------------------------------------
CREDITS:

Conure and Altimit for working so hard to help me get these lightmaps internalized as well as fixing a post-PMI internalization error.

DeadHamster and Andrew_b for their help here and there as well as motivation.

Cola for filming some of the game play to show for this presentation and for testing the mod.

Sexy
9/10

There's nothing wrong, but I feel you could've done more bitmap wise. I know your not a skinner, but it still feels too much like BG. Amazing mod though, really is.

Very nice but, I would suggest you not make your screenshots so large next time.
