Cryosis
Due to the amount of work I've put into this, and the information I provided for this mod, I decided to create an informational page in wikipedia's Halo mods section. In other words, click here to learn more about the Cryophobia mod series:
http://halomods.wikia.com/wiki/Cryophobia

Cryophobia = a morbid fear of freezing
Arctic Crisis = Original name of the enhancement for the Cryophobia campaign before I canceled it.

Dropped the "Arctic" as it was redundant.
Cryophobia --> <-- Crisis
Just for fun I searched how to write out the two ways to demonstrate its pronunciation:
1.) Cry-oh-sis
2.) krī-ō-sĭs

Yes, I know I said I was gone, but I forgot to give ya'll that last thing I made before I left. No more updates. This is it.

So I haven't really thought too long about posting the file...I just thought, "not everyone checks out the sites you posted it on; some people never check more than one site for some mods sometimes". That made me think about posting the file here.
Because I believe it's better to state the bad news before the good, that's what I'll do.

Ok, so here's the bad news. It's a trial mod, and unfortunately thus far, cannot work on macs for some reason. However, some people might get it to work; it doesn't work on macs because a recursive meta injection messed it up. This also caused another problem: computers with minimal graphics most likely can't play the mod either. For example, if you can't see the detail of grass, just some green paint, then that's bad. If you can see it, then that's good. To make sure you can run it, check your video setup to see if you can turn "Specular" on and off; if you can, then you've got a 99% chance that it'll work.

Good News: Everything else.
---------------------------------------------------

Echo Ranger 449 and the Halo Archives are proud to present the Halo Trial mod that has been in the making since April 26, 2007. The mod started out as an update for Sky Wars v.1.2 and ends up as Sky Wars v.2, Cryophobia, Cryophobia v.E, and then finally, Cryosis. I hope you enjoy this mod as much as I do.

Ok guys, here it is. Cryosis. Sorry I'm not releasing the campaign version. I just can't release something I don't feel at least 90% satisfied with.

First off, to anyone whose never played Cryophobia v.E (a.k.a. Cryophobia:Enhanced) before, this mod puts a lot of stress on your video card so you need a pretty decent one to even run the mod (otherwise you'll get an exception error).

Below is a description of the updates to the "Cryosis_original" file I posted a while ago. The updates are much greater compared to the Cryophobia and Cryophobia: Enhanced versions.

I already posted a link for the file, but a lot of people may miss it, so here is a slightly updated version...I only updated a handful of things...like the fuel rod projectile reflection and the battle rifle's auto-aim. Brute shot is a little more lethal now. Needler isn't impossible to dodge when strafing (but the wielder can adjust their lead to make up for the reduced homing). The jet can't fire missiles at 45 degree angles from the jet's forward position; this makes it a lot easier to avoid missiles and makes it much harder for a jet to take out a Flying Walrus. The shotgun has reduced damage as well; it's still very powerful though.
By the way, if you use devmode to spawn all weapons, you can use the campaign needler which fires brute shot rounds (expect major lag if you use it though).

Here is some more interesting info on halomods.wikia.com for it (it's listed in the trivia section for Cryosis):
  • The "campaign needler", which can be found by using the devcommand cheat_all_weapons, fires brute shot projectiles at a high rate of fire.
  • The Assault Rifle has a very fast melee
  • If you get stuck on the log platform on the top, you can either teleport yourself down via devmode or use the energy sword to bring a vehicle up to you
  • The teleporter to the hiding place located above the red cave be can be accessed using a brute shot to jump up to the log platform
  • Hover tanks can climb on top of the bases (original bases) if given enough speed at the right angle.

The day and night version download contain a special halo.exe file included with the installation files that allow players to use the devmode. This was done so players can use the gametypes created with the modified ui.map file.
  • type ` to activate the devcommand line (it's the same key as the ~ key)
  • type sv_map bloodgulch "name of gametype in quotation marks"
  • for example, sv_map bloodgulch "team slayer"
  • There is a video posted by Echo where he was "messing around with the devcam during a game of Cryosis". The first half of the video shows two clueless players (not acting, real) behave unusually and almost on key with the music (that was played at the same time the video was recording)
  • There are two versions out, though only one was publicized. The Cryosis_original is the unpublicized original one that is featured below.

Here is something I made for my server, which other people can use. However, to avoid confusion, tell anyone after you use the "ctrl + z" command that you're not Echo Ranger, otherwise you may get a lot of questions you can't answer.

ctrl+z: welcome to server
ctrl+x: how to install
ctrl+c: history of cryosis

alt+z: cryosis explanation
alt+x: cryosis videos

shift+z: do not curse
shift+x: do not betray
shift+c: do not hack
shift+v: do not interupt host
Shift+b: report all afk's

The other "hack" abuses the animation trigger for the assault rifle's melee. Shift+W

Download for it is here:

Thanks. It took a lot of refining to make it more than just a concept mod.

Philly wrote:Would you be able to send me that model I asked you for? All I got was four replies which had nothing to do with my question. :?
The model is gone because the file is gone. I said that if you wanted that stuff, you had to get it fast. Maybe I gave you the wrong file, but I directed you to the right filefront folder where it was.

The tags and scenario file are gone. The rebuild folder is still there.

The fuel rod model was actually released on this website.
In fact...
http://forums.halomods.com/viewtopic.php?t=71370

There.
Note: there are some adjustments you need to make on the model's shaders- the piece that covers the left and right side of the fuel rod's barrel is part of the "metal" shader. You can look at Cryosis' fuel rod shaders' dependencies and settings to get a better idea of how to make it look good. BTW the cryosis fuel rod is a bit too shiny.

Oh, one final thing, you could use the knave's flak cannon- it has nicer shaders, animations, and model. Just give him credit and remember to correct the bitmap and sound meta if you plan to use it for Halo PC instead of Halo Trial.

This is what his brute shot and fuel rod look like in Trial.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKavj4f3UlQ

I'm surprised everyone overlooks these excellent creations after all the posts I've made for them.

The campaign would've been so much greater than the multiplayer. Alas, I can't do it, not for two years. Anyways, check out the Cryosis updates on my youtube channel. The gauss hog is, without a doubt, the l33test of them all.

Saying no to the campaign is harder than saying I am done with modding. It was sometime during September I was considering finishing it then. Mr Mods was suggesting a more efficient way of creating my campaign version, without glitches and with the ability to use my project "chaos island" scenario file. It was going to have new cutscenes for the silent Cartographer, have weapons like the flak cannon (halo 2 fuel rod) and brute shot by Knave, and Doc's latest energy sword. It also had some of the older stuff like the c4 and Spelican. I wanted to put my best into the finale, but I knew it would take at least six months to create, even with all the conversions done on it already. So yes, I did try to see if I could delay the project, six months, a year, two years...no I can't. So is it possible after that? Yes. I may be out by then, but then no one will care about it, plus the people I'll need for the project will be gone. So no I can't do it.

Despite all that, I have left you all [the halo trial community] with the remnants of my Cryosis campaign work:
Well, maybe someone may be able to use the stuff I was using to make something incredible with it.
You can download the stuff that was going to be used for it from here (You need 7zip to open them though):

Code: Select all

http://hosted.filefront.com/echoranger449/2294109
Just make sure that if you give credit to the CE content makers for the stuff you use. Like Kirby_422 for the jackal shield, Doc Octavius for the energy sword, Jahrain for the Halo 2 spartan, Tiamat for the Spelican and c4 charge, bungie and I for the "esword", Knave for the Flak Cannon and brute shot, etc...
The bitmap and sound metas are set for Halo Trial, so if you use them for Halo PC, you need to fix them.
Go here for more information about the files' components:

Code: Select all

http://s11.zetaboards.com/Halo_Archives/topic/7045319/1/
By the way, you need to download this file:

Code: Select all

http://files.filefront.com/dds+extractor7z/;11725599;/fileinfo.html
with 7zip, extract the exe file, then open the exe file with notepad.
Those have the passwords to all the encrypted files.

The Gauss hog, which is the most awesome, contains effect tags created by the creator of "Oblivion" and were updated to be "halo 3-ish" by me. The body of the warthog (the model and skins) comes from Gangland, which (DA)Ender gives credit to Masterz1337\Knave (CMT)for it. Keep in mind it uses "duplicated bitmap meta". So make sure you click "EOF", then "Update" before injecting the new bitmaps into those slots. It's in the rebuild.7z folder.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxS_KU8kYYw
You can also go to http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?t=11562 to see the discussion I made while developing some of the effects for the gauss hog.

lol wut

and that smiley, as well as a couple other versions, seriously annoy me.

well, maybe not the smileys, but the fact that a lot of people say "trail", ooh, that makes me fry.

Remember to try out the night version- it will very likely determine once and for all whether or not you will ever want to play in a "night mod" again.

Yeah, well I don't think anyone will want to. Plus, it has a lot of issues-- can't be opened in sparkedit or HHT. I don't know how much stuff can be extracted from it as well without encountering errors.

Just a question, I know 3 out of the 4 meta injectors you have listed. As far as I know Fuel and Macs do not mod anymore and I am pretty sure spida does not. How old is this?

by ER-449
Oh most of the meta injections were done back during Cryophobia.

The rest of them were done by taxiservice.

By the way, check this video out, it has something you might want to put into fire team delta:
