[Model] Sentinel Beam

Post by OsAMaBiNLAdiN »

I was asked to re-upload this so here you go. It's not really a sentinel beam but it's more or less based off of one. There is instructions included if you're confused.

is that a remodel of the flame thrower? if so epic job dude kinda sorta resembles gravity gun of half life.. 9.9/10 maybe push the camera backa bit and make it look longer.. ill try that later.

*cough* its a flamethrower remodeled into a sentinel gun... not a model of a sentinel gun.

I remember this back over at HaloDocs. I miss those days, back when I still actually modeled.

I loved it then, and love it now. 10/10. Best flamethrower remodel I've ever seen, one of the best remodels I've ever seen.

Thanks for the input everybody! To clear some confusion, I started out wanted to model the sentinel beam but couldn't find any good pictures of it so I used the gravity gun for reference which is why it somewhat resembles the gravity gun and not the sentinel beam. Its really just meant to be somewhat based off those but not really look like them but I couldn't think of a good name for it so named it sentinel beam. I just wanted to incorporate a transparent shader swap to a weapon that wasn't nooby.

Wait, is this a remodel, or a custom?

osama, this is amazing, could you describe your process? i know it injects fine over the flamethrower, i remember downloading this ages ago, and ive always wondered how you did it. it just looks too perfect to be a remodel. Also, what program did you use? regardless of the process, amazing result, one of the best remodels ever.

Yea, basically I detach it a little further then usual. Alot of the times many parts of the weapons are just overly redundant which is especially true in the flamethrower and sniper. I used to have a bunch of ways of detaching weapons but they seemed only to work in the older versions of milkshape but not the newer ones. However, even in misfit, you can separate object by scaling down two consecutive parts of the model to zero such as on the sniper rifle barrel. As for the modeling program, I usually use milkshape but render in anim8or.

Heres what I mean:
this is the sniper barrel, select one part and then scale it in the x,y, and z direction to 0.
Image
It should then look like this. Do the same thing adjacent to the one you just scaled.
Image
It should then look like this. Then you just scale each vertice with the adjoining ends of the barrel by scaling them to zero in the x axis.
Image
Your final result (below) will allow you to completely detach that part without removing any vertices. You can repeat as many times as you want .
