That's what I thought I should do. I know 18000 is big (I know the length of those rooms in d40 while in a hog are about 16000) and I always saw the TIFs were 512. But for some reason I can't import the MC. The only file I have is the .biped and I can't import that with gmax.

A few tips on map-models, please....

I am making my first ever map, but I was wondering about a few things modelling. First, I have a map 18000x18000x10000, and I tesselated the bottom (except for the ocean bottom, left that relatively flat) down to 32 squares. I was wondering if that would be a little too few. And what about smoothing...

1. Thanks, I'll try that as soon as I get on my other computer.

2. Already fixed, I changed the driver gmax used from D3D to OpenGL, and I can see the materials fine.

First question is about The Gimp: I tried injecting skins I edited with the Gimp (in this case cybord.dds), but whenever I did from far away it would appear black instead of whatever color it was before. When someone told me I needed 8 mipmaps, I found out Gimp made 9. So I deleted one and saved it,...

Google "Gmax". It's practically identical to 3ds Max, plus its free.

But that's not the problem....the problem was it would change to black when you got farther away. Also, I messed something up that even after putting back the backup dds file I still had an obnoxious, large gibberish square where the shield bar and radar should be, and the other cyborgs were "g...

Excellent maps! The only problem is in Calibration X, where you can grab weapons from underneath the upper ledge. Other than that, good job!

I wouldn't really know, but what halofun's saying is don't use the b40.map file for your PMI. If another level doesn't work, post again and see if someone else can help you.

3ds Max skin

I'm trying to use the a10 panel strips in 3ds max, but I can't make it so only part shows up. I only want the grayish part, not the tan or other stuff. There is a way to rotate skins on a face(s), right?

Alright, I am going to get my Xbox softmodded (when I have enough money for AR and Splinter Cell). But before I do, I want to ask why in some of the mods I've seen the non-modder can't see some things. Now I understand why it doesn't work for skins, but with things that everyone has like if a plasma...
